JUMBO PRIZES

At my park, SFGAdv, I always see people dragging around these MONSTER SIZED stuffed animal prizes, you know the kind...big as an aircraft hanger, but I never actualy SEE them win these things. Is this a scam (do they pay people to walk around with these) or do people actually win these jumbo prizes??? Has anybody ever won one, and on what game??
Personally, I have never one one, but I have seen people win on both the "toss a quarter on a plate" and the "roll a wiffle ball into the colored circle" games.

Funny thing, back in the days Riverview, they literaly DID pay people to walk around with the prizes...

The bigger mystery to me is what the heck people do with these things all day. Not to mention what they do with them once they get them home.
Every park seems to have these humongous things, usually on nearly every game (especially races or ring tosses). The way to win them is to keep playing and winning, because you have to trade up - something like 3 small prizes makes a medium, 3 medium for a large, 3 large for an x-large, 3 x-large for a jumbo. Sheesh! Is it really worth it?

As for all day, I've seen people try to cram them in lockers, and some parks have big lockers/barrels specifically for large items. They've also taken them on some rides, or leave them on benches or with a non-rider while they go on rides.

One year my father threw a hula-hoop over a wooden block at CP, and we won one of those jumbos - some odd mouse with a hat. I had to sit with the stupid thing on the way home, and it sat in my room for a few months before we got rid of it. Whoopee!

2 time Ring toss winner right here :) THese are the 5 cent rings at SFDL (not the more expensive ones) so the prizes are smaller than the expensive ring game... they are pretty large though, hard to tell from the pic though.

I also won a jumbo tweety bird.

One of my winning rings:

(and no, I didnt hire somebody to put it there :P )

Its actually pretty easy to get the hang of how to win, its not ALL luck, their are ways to greatly increase your chance.

I have also won Jumbo Lobsters at SFDL, but not from Ringtoss :P

In 1980 I won a large St. Bernard at CP for the ring toss came. The objective was to fit the ring around the block at the bottom of a milk jug. My older brother had managed to win one a couple years prior. Despite the fact that my parents had rented a campground space in back of the park, I didn't really want to carry the thing around all day. I ended up giving it to some girl because I thought she was cute.
My friend and i won a huge Scooby Doo, but we didn't really want it. That was in the game where you throw a whiffle ball against a tilted wood board and it has to go into the bin under the board.

So we sold it to some guy for 25 dollars.
His girlfriend went to the bathroom and i guess he told her that he won it.

then me and my friend walked to Gurnee Mills and we both bought a CD :)

I really used to think that these people were paid to walk around with those large prizes... but my little brother put that observation to shame.

With just a single $2.00 game of the Ring Toss at Cedar Point, he won this huge blue dog. Because he won it at only the first or 2nd toss... I wanted to pocket the rest of the rings (kind of a souvineer, ya know?)... I kept 2 of 'em.

Well, anyway... with a huge dog like that, I am not going to walk around the park standing in line with that monster! Not only is it embarassing, it's pointless... so immediately we put it into my car and then continue on with the rest of the day.

Why I don't see everyone else walking to the car instead of around the park, is still a mystery to me... but you can win at those games... the big stuff at that.

Sad thing was... During my trip to Cedar Point when he won it... we were tent camping! Now, trying to stuff a big tent, clothes, food, and all this camping stuff into a 2000 Celica was hard enough... try stuffing a 4 foot dog into there for the trip home!

That was PURE TORTURE! (I'd have ripped his head off so I could see out the window, but the stuffing would have gotten everywhere!)

I won a huge Red Dog stuffed animal at CP, it wasn`t a scam, i could`ve won 10 more. ALl you have to do is hit three out of bout 150 targets closley aligned. They have the same thing at SFWoA and PKI but the animals are about 1/3 the size

That was pretty funny,Dawg Byte, I can just picture your Celica going down the highway!!! Was the dogs head hanging out of the window with his ears flopping in the breeze? LOL
