Hershey park's Springtime in the park.

I am curious to see how many people are going to Hershey Park's preview weekend this coming weekend. I believe the dates are the 13th- 15th. I'll be there. How many others will be?
I'm not. Even though Hershey is one of my favorite parks I refuse to go to any of the pay per ride events while I hold a season pass. I just feel that they could have these things free for the pass holders like the other parks with the Halloween and other seasonal events. Hershey's a great park but I won't pay the $4.00 or whatever it is to ride the coasters. I'll just wait the few weeks for the park to open for the season.

I'm with coasterpunk on that one. It's more worth it to wait till the season starts. Lightning racer, wilcat, and wild mouse and all the rides in that area are gonna be closed till the regular season starts.

I'm waiting for the ACE convention to go to Hershey.
I'm going, since I live next to the park. ;) $15 gets you an all-day wristband. Quite worth it I say.
I'm going only because once I start working down there, I won't have a lot of time to enjoy the coasters.
A bit off topic here but I'm curious--how much is parking at Hershey Park?

"What Goes Up Must Come Down My Friends"
The Hershey Bears have their first hockey playoff game on Saturday, April 14. I'm going to that and will probably go to the park before that. Would have liked Wildcat and Racer to be open, but as long as the Bear and Comet (my sentimental favorite) are running, I think its worth it.

The $15 wristband is not a bad deal either. Last year I walked over to the park for Hersheypark in the Dark at Halloween before one of the hockey games and got a wrist band. Since only half the park is open, the "half price" wrist band is not a bad deal. Now if you "pay as you ride", then the prices are high. I think it is usually around $4.80 or $5.00 for one ride on the Great Bear. I figured all I had to do was get a wrist band and ride 4 things and I would be getting off "cheap".

As for parking... not sure what the price is for "Springtime in the Park". Normally it is $5 or $6. I thought I heard though that for this event it is free parking, but not sure where that is or if I even heard it correctly. With a hockey game going on that night, I seriously doubt they would drop their parking charge since both the Arena and the park use the same lots.

A question on pricing. Would someone please explain to me why Hershey feels it needs to charge $4.80 to ride the Great Bear during these "special" weekends, but yet Knoebels (2 years ago) only charged $2.50 to ride Twister? Is there a reason (other than greed)?

Parking is free if you have a season pass.
$2.50 is pretty cheap for a single ride on any coaster larger than a kiddie coaster. Most of the small coasters at the beach cost this much or more. Problem is, any pay for individual rides gets pretty ecpensive for people who ride at lot.
Parking in Hershey for anything is $6 unless you park at Chocolate World and that is free most of the time.

I guess I'm used to Knoebels where a ride on the Phoenix will cost me $1.50 and Twister $2.00. I'm going to get a wake up call when I hit Vegas in a few weeks. ;)
