Enterprise by Huss or Schwarzkopf?

I have always understood that Enterprise was by Huss. Yesterday, I was at a Schwarzkopf page: http://schwarzkopf.coaster.net/fahrgeschaefte-ok-GF.htm
and Enterprise versions 1-4 are listed under it. Can somebody clear this up for me? Thanks.

That's a good question.

Also, I understand that Huss created the Sky Whirl...but Chitown said that Intamin created it. But I specifically remember Huss stickers inside the cabins.

Yah...I wasn't sure about Enterprise until I viewed that Schwarzkopf page...

OK. Both Huss and Schwarzkopf built Enterprises. Intamin in the beginning sold rides built by other companies. They sold rides by Schwarzkopf, Huss, Von Roll,Crown Metal Products, and many other smaller German and Italian manufacturers. It's only within the last ten to fifteen years that they have actully had a design and manufacturing arm.

Yes, both Huss and Schwarzkopf build enterprises.

Huss build models like the one at Cedar Point or Geauga Lake, Kennywood, and SFKK...with the sliding door. Huss also builds the Skylab (Kings Island) with the double cars.

Schwarzkopf builds a slightly smaller one with the doors that fold up like old Kings Dominion's, or the one at Great America or Carowinds. Its a faster ride with smaller cars

Von Roll is the third company. Their enterprises are at SFA and SFDL. it has only sixteen cars.

Tivoli has a "poor mans enterprise" called Black Out or Force 10. It doesnt go upside down, but comes real close. It also really makes you dizzy. I don't recommend it..at all.

Ask me anything else! This is fun! ;)

How so? You mean they worked on it together or what? Also, to janfrederick, I know it's an Imtamin.... that's pretty odd. And if Intamin only started designing 10-15 years ago, who is Sky Whirl by? And a sticker? How can a sticker last that long? Where was it, and did it just say "Huss"? (Sorry I'm asking so many questions....) Thanks!

I always thought that the Orbit (Enterprise) at SFGAm was Huss. Guess not. Looking at that page, it brought up another question. Did Schwarzkopf design the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier in Chicago? Check the Giant Wheel to see why I'm wondering this.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
As to who actually built the Sky Whirls, I can answer that, but not right away. I have in my archives a lot of early Intamin sales material that identifies who built what ride. Unfortunatly my research materials are in many many file boxes in a storage unit right now. I'll try to dig them out when I get a chance.

Sky Whirl was done by Intamin. It could have been refurbished by Huss a while ago, or have always had some of its parts done by them. For example, the wheel at SFO is a dutch company, not Vekoma, but the tubs are done by Arrow/Huss.
The wheel at Navy Pier is a Vekoma. I hope SFGrAm put in a new wheel here soon.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the data plate on the Enterprise at Darien Lake indicates that it was built by Heinz Fahtz, another of those German ride builders we've never heard of.

Schwarzkopf built smaller Enterprise rides particularly distinguished by the hinged tub roof...the side of the tub opens like the door on a DeLorean. But the one at Darien Lake has 16 tubs and a sliding door, just like the one at Adventure World.

The Huss Enterprise has 20 tubs on it and has a sliding door. And the Skylab has...er, I think it has 20 double tubs, a sliding door, and a lower age requirement.

Yes...the Sky Whirl in Santa Clara had Huss labels inside each cabin just under the seats. They were metallic and this was about 10 years ago. Now interestingly enough, a whole lot of folks here have said that Intamin built it.

Given Intamin's history of creating inovative rides, it doesn't seem far-fetched at all. Hopefully the Dutchman can resolve this. Keep in mind that this was 10 years ago; and that was many many coasters and beers ago! ;)
