Disney cites fired prosecutor loss for DeSantis in First Amendment case

Disney’s lawyers think a court ruling boosting ousted Tampa prosecutor Andrew Warren’s bid to get his job back also will help their lawsuit against Gov. Ron DeSantis. The entertainment giant’s legal team on Thursday filed a copy of Wednesday’s decision from the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing that the same First Amendment protections within it apply to the company’s lawsuit.

I'm not at all surprised that DeSantis lost that separate appeal. The circumstances are similar... DeSantis doesn't like what someone (the prosecutor) says, and retaliates with the power of government despite the First Amendment. Considering it's a something he's championed in his campaign, it's even more cut and dry that he did the same thing against Disney.

This is the biggest frustration that I have with the justice system, is that it's slow. DeSantis loses in court a lot, eventually. Same with Trump. You just don't hear as much about the follow up, so they have their moments of sticking it to whomever they oppose, but not in the long run.

Yep. It seems like the Republicans champion the first amendment only to justify spewing their lies. And try to use it as defense when they intentionally libel someone…..

But when someone speaks out against them in truthful opinion on a subject, they retaliate. Which is EXACTLY what the first amendment forbids.

This a huge deal when the government is retaliating against free speech. It is anti American. But the Republicans have trashed so many American ideals that something like this is getting little attention

It's a weird thing to see people flag waving for a guy who hates people who have served and litrally wants to "suspend" the Constitution.

People who believe the Constitution consists of only two amendments.

It looks like Disney is attempting to show how the various suits are related, after a discovery hearing yesterday. They're looking for evidence that the district's actions are retaliatory from the governor. You know there's gotta be messages between the board members and the DeSantis people about sticking it to the mouse.

It's all even more ridiculous since Ron just got trashed by Trump. He went from viable candidate to total joke in just a few months.
