Disney announces two new additions for California Adventure

Posted | Contributed by James Disney

The Disneyland Resort announced two new additions for California Adventure today in a small ceremony before park opening. A Bugs Land featuring Flik's Fun Faire will open in fall 2002 while Twilight Zone Tower of Terror will open in 2004.

IslandKG, wait until you see what's replacing it!  A show along the same lines, using an AMAZING system.

Also, I forgot to put this in the previous post of mine, but this Tower is clocking in at 180 feet tall, only 19 feet shorter than Florida's version.

Sorry Dweaver. I was just trying to show people who didn't know and think this should be done tomarrow, that it consists of a lot more than an elevator shaft.
WOW!  I just saw the concept art and this thing looks AMAZING.  I thought it wouldn't look too good before I saw the art but now it looks like it will go excellent in the Hollywood area.  Also Flik's Fun Faire doesn't look too bad, hopefully they get those giant clove thigs in the end.

Flicks fun fair will be part of the Bugs section of the park, they are becoming a sort of spokesperson for CAs agriculture at DCA. It will have a few attractions that children and adults can do together.

Apparently the Imagineers werent happy with the lateral movement effects in WDW so they improving that part of ToT, and yes the hole, the ride system, and the structure do take that long to build.

I'm glad this isn't the same as it's Flodia counterpart, from the concept art that they showed I can't wait to ride. I wanna be a Bellhop, I think that would be SO cool. I understand that A Disney attraction does take this long to build and fine tune so I will give that to them but I think they should have something for 2003. It doesn't have to be huge like ToT but just a little something (Perhaps something elese replacing the horrid Superstar Limo).

I'm the real RCFreak gotta problem? SOLVE IT!
Just went to California Adventure 2 days ago and I did it in about 2 hours. Yes it is nice to look at but they need more rides and TOT will be a great addition. TOT is worth the cost of the park alone in Florida. TOT could save California Adventure.
It could save DCA from what?  Overbearing critics with a very selective memory?  People that forget that MGM once was bashed for not having enough to do at opening and bored the hell outta kids... much like DCA.

Correct me if I'm wrong here......but if there's no roll through the Fifth Dimension, doesn't that imply that the drop shaft is exactly the same shaft that the ride starts on?  And if that's true, and the drop shaft, in order to be the same height as the Florida ride, must go beneath the ground...does it not follow that the elevator must pass the doors where other guests are waiting to board, very much ruining the potential experience?  I mean, part of the thrill of the Florida ride is that once those doors close, you hear nothing.  You have no idea what's going to happen until you get into the elevator, and at that point it's too late.  Anyone know how DCA plans to deal with this?
