Dark ride dismay...

I have heard of House of Shock, founded by members of Pantera and probably the BEST show there is for a Haunted House. But it is not a year round attraction, and does not currently have a dark ride (though it did for 1 year: http://www.phantasmechanics.com/end.html (and for how he built it: http://www.phantasmechanics.com/darkride/index.html))
It is something that I really want to visit sometime, now I just have to have an excus..er..reason to go back to New Orleans!

How about some trinoodling? I can share Gonch if Carrie can! ;)

I'm just wondering why nobody has ever named a ride "The Canoodler."*

* Of course, if it were in Elysburg, it would be called "The Knoodler" and pronounced the same way.

Wasn't the Canoodler one of Batman's arch-enemies? He was always going around, commanding, "Canoodle me this...." Or something.

I'm very proud that I can noodle about canoodling.

I remember some years ago a park (who's name escapes me now) held a contest to name the new ride. One of the entries was from a little boy who wanted to call it the "Hold-Her-Closer Rollercoaster". He wound up with honorable mention, but I thought it was one of the best names ever. Kind of like Canoodler.

When Hershey was holding the name contest for what ended up being Roller Soaker I was so tempted to submit the name Hershey Squirts.

I did. It didn't win, obviously.

Well, Garfield's Nightmare is not that bad, and the Old Mill was not great..
But it was the thought of riding a classic that made it Awesome.

MonStars of rock is that bad, If not for the awful portable dark ride at funtown pier, it would be the worst.
Fortunately, workers at Freestyle did admit that it was rushed, and should be improved in the future...It couldn't get worse-LOL

One of the worst for me was the Castaway Kids at SF StL. It was the storyline of some obscure kid's show, and the ride was so bad. The kids looked like really old JC Penney mannequins with ill fitting wigs. Some of them were flat cut outs, too. Thank god the ride has been converted to the great Scooby Doo ride it is now.

^^Hey Rob, quick question - are you referring to the Spongebob ride at Funtown?

That was far and away the worst dark ride installation I've *ever* encountered - yes, even worse than MonStars (at least FMP presumably had a budget in excess of $100 to work with). ;)

Wow, an epiphany.

A new T.V. show coming this fall: "Pimp My Dark Ride". Contestants will be given 24 hours and $1,000 to turn your crummy, semi-decrepit haunted house on rails into a state of the art, shoot 'em up immersive experience.

I can already hear the tagline: "We're gonna need more cardboard..."
