Hi all.

I am finally getting a chance to do one of the Coasting for Kids events. This one is at Kennywood on Sep. 1.

Thanks in advance for your support!

I'm doing this event as well and any contributions would be greatly appreciated. http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1224634&...fr_id=1886

Why isn't Coasting for Kids being done at Cedar Fair's parks anymore?

I know at CP charitable efforts switched to Lebron James Foundation, which would be a lot more local. As for the other parks, or the corporatation as a whole, I don’t know.

The list of participating parks is interesting, and include a variety of places even with a Six Flags or two sprinkled in there. Maybe GKTW made the choice and is trying to spread participants throughout the country a little better. CF parks are more concentrated in the east with little action on the west coast. Dunno.

When they stopped hosting the events, Cedar Fair generally decided to focus on local charities in each market. I don't think that's particularly controversial.

I never thought of Buffalo NY as a huge charity hotspot. There is a Coasting for Kids at Six Flags Darien Lake and Fantasy Island.

But then again, what do I know?

I just noticed that. Maybe a smart business decision? If I were involved with Cedar Fair, I wouldn't want that close an association with Six Flags (and the 'different' experience they offer)- who are a part of CFKids now. Or was it a hand-off?
