CoasterBuzz v6 refresh

kpjb's avatar

It looks sleek, I like it.

The only negative I see is that it seems harder to pick out quoted text when I'm scanning over a thread. The light colored bar on the left doesn't really stand out, and that makes the quoted text difficult to differentiate from the main body of the post.

Glad I shift+refreshed before I posted this, as the site looked like it was in a blender before I did that.

Hi

I can add some shading to quotes if it will help. I think that might be one of those things that gets lost on monitors with poor contrast. (Upgrade, you cheap ass! :))

The look and performance on my iPhone is significantly improved. I noticed the same thing about the quotes kind of blending into the background.

So now I'm getting a "failed to open page" error when I click on "Recent" in Safari, but it seems to be working OK in Chrome on my Windows PC.

Point buzz does the same.

Everything at this size is substantially larger than it is over at PointBuzz. I feel like I'm looking at an old person's computer when I'm here!

You can see the differences here: http://imgur.com/a/BY1ar

I'm seeing the same thing; text seems huge. At first i thought I had it zoomed in, but alas, it was at 100%.

Which recent link, and what page are you on?

Even from the top of this topic, if I click on the "recent" link

I get said error message:

I figured screen shots will be better than trying to explain.

Well Safari is your first problem. :) Seriously though, that browser is completely awful, slow and buggy. The link works for me. It's not exotic in any way at all. Try this one, it's the same thing:

I would love to see the return of the Recent button on the main forum page for here as well as PB. I know its only one more click to hit general, then hit recent, but im greedy, so sue me.

For those keeping track at home (halftime score):

CBuzz Refresh 1, Pepsi Refresh 0.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

^^That's why I just bookmark the recent page on here and PB.

Last night I was about to despair when I tried to get on here and could barely read a thing, let alone respond. It sent me into panic mode really bad, if you can even imagine. (You can, can't you?)
But today all is well and everything functions beautifully even on my crappy iPad. I always had trouble with the recent button, (only here, not PointBuzz for some reason) but today there's no trouble.

So thanks for the change and the upgrade.

This is most likely because I have an old phone, but since the refresh I cannot access the forums on my phone. I can get to the main page, then the forums selection page, but the individual threads either freeze and make me force close, or just crash altogether. I'm on Android 4.0.4, Galaxy S2. On the bright side, I'm much more productive at work.

Hi

That's weird, because I can totally use it on my iPhone 3GS. (That's not my current phone, sillypants, I just use it for testing.)

Try clearing your browser cache. The site looks fine on Chrome for Android running Android 4.4.4 or the older Android browser on Android Gingerbread. The phone and Android version you have should work fine.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Cached styles are definitely my fault. Normally, I have a "minifier" turned on for the style sheets, to make them smaller, which results in a more random URL for them that changes when the files change. I've had that off though for the purpose of testing, so you might still see the old stuff, which will make it look broken. I swear I'll turn that on again, soon.
