Castle Dracula will not be back, but something else will

The Nickles family plans to introduce a new amusement concept at the pier to replace Castle Dracula, taking advantage of advances in ride technology to provide a one-of-a-kind ride. Nickels said the ride could wind up being the tallest structure in the city. All 12,000-plus square feet of the former castle site will be utilized, he said, and the attraction will be one part “entertainment” and one part “actual ride.”

That spider thing sounds pretty freaky.

I'm having a hard time trying to figure out what this ride/attraction will be like. It sounds like some kind of themed drop tower, perhaps with a pre-show. Perhaps a Tower Of Terror with a more generic drop at the end (as opposed to the elaborate set-up at MGM Studios). Still, $4 million doesn't sound like it would buy that kind of experience.

I'm still curious, either way... As much as I miss the Castle, I think that something new and different will make the owners a lot more money.

I just visited Morey's pier, 2 days ago and I must say I was throughly impressed with all 3 piers. Each had its own unique flavor and a great balance of thrill rides and family rides. Although, I was dissapointed by Great White, (I found it to be the worst CCI I have been on) I will definitely be back next year for this new ride especially considering the fact i still have a day left on my 3 day pass.
Hmm...from what I can figure, I'm thinking that it's gonna be something along the lines of HeX at Alton Towers. The difference being the actualy ride part. Instead of a Vekoma Mad House, they'll probably put a new type of flat ride inside. Not a freefall, because he said it would be unique to the east coast. Maybe a Huss Giant Ride.

Its a shame to see fond memories from my childhood erased by some arsonists, but I welcome the new technology that the propsed ride will feature. Will it be better than what it replaced? Only time will tell.
