Carowinds and Neon

Associated parks:
None

I decided to head off to Carowinds since I was going to be in town to see Brooks and Dunn's Nean Circus and Wild West Show. I did not check to see if there was any special events going on at Carowinds and paid for it big time since there was an event called Crossfire 2001 which featured DC Talk. Needless to say it was crowded.

I made sure I got there before 9:30 so I could take advantage of the ERT on Top Gun since I do not hardly ever ride it after the ERT. I got about 6 rides before 10 and decided to head on through the rest of the park.

Thunder Road: Since some good old tender loving care has been done to her, she has become alot better ride. I only rode forward once, but rode backwards six times. In my view going backwards is alot better.

Scoody Doo Ghoster Coaster: It has been almost a year since I have rode Scooby and only do it once or twice a year.

Vortex: By the time I made my way around to here, it had a rather long line. It was a good excuse to skip it since I am not a big fan of it. I always use the walk on rule for it. If I can walk on then I will ride it.

Hurler: I use to really think this coaster was not worth it, but have got to where I have got to really enjoy a spin on it. It is alot beeter that the one at PKD.

Carolina Cyclone: With only one train running it caused a lengthy wait. I passed it up since I did not have any plans to stand and wait.

I hung around till around two and decided to head out to Concord (Right down the road)to see Brooks and Dunn's Neon Circus and Wild West Show. It was great, but it has nothing to do with coasters so I will skip it.

All in all it was a good trip to Carowinds even though it was crowded.
Yes Thunder Road is running very well this year and has completely redeemed itself from its back-breaking rides of last year. The re-tracking has worked well and I also think backwards is the best. Vortex is running pretty bad but Hurler is having one of the best years it ever has. Ride in Car 1 Seat 2 and you'll be floating the entire ride :). We rode it 13 times without getting off in the rain on Friday.

Thunder Road ran badly last year?!!? That's news to me. It might have been that I rode it early in the season (late May), but it was easily the best of the Paramount Racers. It's the only one of them that I can even stand to ride forwards, though I agree that backwards is best. Also, Tornado, I agree, Carowinds has the better Hurler (by far IMO).
