Belmont Park!

Associated parks:
None

This was my first trip ever to Belmont Park. I was in the area and had really been wanting to go to BP lately, so I found time to do so.
It felt cool to just walk into the park, no admission, and just buy tickets! Of course, the first ride I went for was the Giant Dipper, the classic boardwalk woodie built in 1925 I think.
The park was not crowded when I was there on a sunday afternoon when I went. I waited no more than 5 minutes each time, sometimes less. I can only imagine what it would be like on a weekday.
The first part of the ride is in a tunnel, which does an awesome job of disorienting the riders, especially if you sit in the front. Then it is up that old lift, with the coolest view ever. Mission Bay to one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Nice. Anyway, the ride goes through its twisting first drop, actually twisting 180 degrees, going exactly opposite to the lift. The rest of the ride is a series of twists and turns that is actually quite nice. It was a fairly tame ride, but nonetheless very fun. When the ride is over, the exit actually leads out of the park, which I found to be kind of interesting.
I went on it in the middle the first time, in front the second (which gave the best ride in my opinion) and in the back seat on the last time.
By the way, the airtime is priceless. The lapbars on the ride are the only restraints, and are several inches above my lap. So, you get some nice air, having virtually no restraints. All in all a cool ride.
Everything else at the park is mostly kiddie rides. A kiddie car ride, a circling camp bus ride, themed to a submarine, bumper cars. Needless to say, I didn't partake in any of these.

But Belmont Park is certainly worth a visit, if only for the Giant Dipper! A fun, and brief trip. Plus you can go back and forth from the beach to the coaster with ease, which sounds like a nice day out to me!

Yeah, I went there on a weekday and had a very enjoyable time. I was the only one riding Giant Dipper. All the other attractions were mediocre. There's some nice restaurants in that area.
