Ballrooms at Idora and Chippewa: History!!!!

We all know about the fire that destroyed the Idora ballroom which destroyed alot of history. I recently visited www.defunctparks.com and noticed that Chippewa has a ballroom as well. My question is will somebody try to save the Chippewa ballroom since I am sure it has alot of history behind it as well? Or are we going to see another landmark in Ohio just waste away and finally get destroyed? I am from Illinois and we have tried our best here to preserve landmarks from disappearing. You Ohioans need to do the same.

There's not much we can do unless we are Al Larner or something. I don't think Idora or Chippewa Lake could survive unless someone with deep pockets bought the park. Most of us would like to see the coasters saved. Big Dipper at Chippewa and Wildcat and Jack Rabbit at Idora.

Lawrence Welk had his first live radio broadcast from the Chippewa ballroom, I think. Something like that. :) I actually have a little history book written by a local around here somewhere.

The problem at Chippewa is that the neighborhood sucks. I'm sure if you dropped a million into that ballroom, you'd have a great facility, but for that much you'd be better off building something new.

It's a damn shame, but that's just the way things are.
