Man sues Six Flags Great Adventure after stepping on bamboo that cuts through shoe

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

After a ride on Kingda Ka, Steven Keim went to retrieve his phone hidden in the landscaping and stepped on “an extremely sharp piece of cut bamboo” which pierced through his shoe, penetrating the plantar area of Keim’s right foot. The incident caused serious, permanent injuries requiring sutures, the suit detailed.

Come on man. Take some responsibility for yourself.

If I had to guess he was wearing flip-flops or some other trash footwear and the employee didn't tell him to hide his phone in the bushes.

Bamboo shoots are sharp.

Any respectable human being does not walk on landscaping

While waiting to take a ride on Six Flags’ Kingda Ka, the world’s tallest roller coaster, Steven Keim Jr. was told he could not bring his cellphone on to the ride. With nowhere else to put it, a park employee advised Keim to place the phone under some foliage in a nearby bamboo grove for safekeeping while he rode the roller coaster, according to the suit.

According to some social media I've found, it doesn't appear he's having any trouble walking, so maybe the "serious, permanent injuries requiring sutures" is simply a nice scar on the bottom of his foot. He'll probably get his medical bills paid and few grand - maybe even a season pass or two.

Doesn't the park provide a convenient place to keep unsecured belongings while on the ride?

I'm not talking about lockers that may be located before you enter the long line. I'm talking about free lockers near the station, or a bin closed off to other trains, or even pouches on the train itself.

This can't be the only time someone has brought a phone in line with them. There's got to be a better way than to be told, "Put your $1000 phone under that bush."

...And that's a terrible photo of the Six Flags sign. And I found a typo in the article.

Welcome to the internet. It would be a shocker if there wasn't a typo in an online article.

There are a million better ways and I'm sure many are in place at the park.

The problem is no one here used them. It's stupid stacked on top of stupid with a side of "no personal responsibility" and seasoned with lack of common sense.

So yeah, another day.

Six Flags does not allow cell phones to be brought in line for Kingda Ka. There are lockers ($1 for a single use) at the ride entrance, which I'm sure is where the employee directed this guy to go to stow his phone. It seems like this genius was too cheap to pay $1 for a locker and decided to instead risk his $1000 phone getting stolen by hiding it in the bamboo.
