OK, so Gonch already blogged about it, but it's funnier with my name. Jeff Putz year at Magic Kingdom.

That's a hell of a thing though. Pretty neat.

I am curious as to just how many names they recorded for the personalized line at the end that Goofy says.

So when can we expect to see Disney-Putz Studios?

That's pretty cool. And I can see it as a great way to tell your kids they're going to Disney.

That's cool, had me duped for a while. I'm going to tell my mom that I won this crazy prize and that we're all going for New Year's. She'll fall for it until I tell her it's fake...

Pass da' sizzrup, bro!

This will be a great addition to my Christmas surprise for our Great Niece when we tell her we will be taking her in June.
She's 6 years old and should be thrilled by this.

There were probably a lot of names. The Orlando parks have the resources to have a character record a lot of names. Look at ET at Universal, where ET says the name of everyone on the ride. I suspect both Goofy and ET recorded a LOT of names.

No, ET is speaking names by way of comprooder, the way a Speak-n-Spell or any Mac would. In fact, I believe the people who give you your intergalactic passport or whatever are typing in your name phonetically.

You can generate spoken words today with gems like this from American Greetings. I doubt the names are pre-recorded.

Then why wouldn't it be able to produce "Lord" or "Gonch"? It defaulted to special guest when Gonch did it. A computer should be able to at least produce "Lord".

I think they are pre-recorded. My son's name is certainly not uncommon, and it's quite easy to say phonetically. In the clip it just says "our special friend" instead. They probably just picked the 50 most popular male & female names.

I just like hearing my name. ;)

They are pre-recorded---"Russell" became "our special friend".

When we passed the point in the line on ET where they entered the name into the computer, I thought I saw a list of names that they would select from. They entered the first few letters, then picked the name.

Auto-complete in 1990... nice. I'm still convinced it's computer generated, because names like "Stephanie" don't sound at all natural.

The Disney site could do Keith, Anita and Elijah but not Kaylin or Taylor. I was a bit surprised about Taylor as I thought it was probably on the 'list' since it can be a boy or girl.

I showed it today when I gave out my Christmas gift to my great niece and she REALLY thought they changed the park for her. She's only 6 but her Grandmother thought it was real also and her only excuse is she's not to swift. I mean really gullible.
