Carowinds announces Intimidator for 2010

Posted | Contributed by ridemcoaster

Carowinds' new Intimidator will stand 232-feet (23-stories) tall at its highest peak and send guests plunging down a 211-foot first drop at a 74-degree angle, reaching speeds in excess of 75 miles per hour. The second (178-feet) and third (151-feet) hills are also taller than any roller coaster at Carowinds. With 5,316 feet of track the Intimidator will feature high speed twists and turns including seven steep drops.

Visit the official Carowinds Intimidator site.

There is an extensive discussion already in play here, so feel free to comment in either thread. I was out at CP all day and couldn't easily get it posted.

I gets no love for my find.. booo... ;)

I honestly thought there was a way to connect/merge a news posting to an existing thread for just such occasions.

I was actually going to suggest that feature a while back, but figured someone would have already done so. :)

It doesn't happen enough to bother.

Kind of like my sort-of related suggestion for allowing a single thread to appear, synchronized, on multiple instances of POP Forums, i.e. on both CoasterBuzz and on PointBuzz. In reality both are the same scenario.

^For instance the Cedar Point 2010 thread. Though it appears to be a popular thread here with only moderate crazy talk, it has gone almost totally out of control on PointBuzz. Over 3000 posts so far. And 95% of it is ridiculous. You could go to page 100* and 150* and your practically reading the same thing.

I'd be curious to see how much differently the thread would have developed if both PointBuzzers and CoasterBuzzers were in the thread together. Anarchy I tell you. Anarchy.

*Warning: Page numbers were picked at random to make a point. These pages might not actually be talking about the same thing. Please do not go to these pages, read them and then come whining to me when in actuality, I'm totally wrong. :)

I want to go on record for saying that I don't want CBuzz and PointBuzz to mix. Just saying. :)

Yeah, I'll second that. The quality of "conversation" on PB is in the crapper right now. Can't wait for the kids to go back to school.

Look, I understand the suggestions, but in the grand scheme of things, re-engineering this forum is not on my radar at all. Too much work, too much risk, too little of a payoff.

Ditto. I stopped reading PB a year or two ago. I don't know why it tanked, but it did.

Last edited by Brian Noble,

PB does have some good posts, however there is defiantly a much younger, more um "exuberant" enthusiasts there as there is at any park specific site (for some reason.) Ive now officially decided not to read the Mystery Construction thread anymore, at least until they announce the ride. If the ride is then non coaster most are predicting it to be, I will enjoy reading all the whining though, Im weird that way.

As a Cedar Point visitor for 40+ years and an employee waaaay back in the 70's, I've enjoyed participating in PB discussions from, maybe, the historical perspective. Occasionally those topics still come up.

But I think what's caused the downward spiral there is the lack of things to talk about. With no major new attraction at CP the last couple of years, the topics seem less than relevant, I suppose. And don't the same discussions seem to appear over and over? (Actually, that seems to be the case with a lot of the park-specific fan sites I've explored.) Even when there is a new ride, there's maybe one good conversation going on about it, and the remaining are a lot of "What Day's the Busiest?" kind of topics.

This topic certainly took a turn somewhere. (One of the reasons that I like it here!)

^ I agree. I used to post on PB until I found CB. I find hat for the most part, the converstations here are informative, entertaining, mostly on topic.

I find the the people here to be the same way, but I could do without those DAMN HAIKUS!!!! :)

Hopman (haiku-free) - is CoasterBuzz the best source? Absolutely, man.

I think that we're all kind cut from the same cloth.

We enjoy a thrill, but we know what works and what doesn't.

Yikes, I want to go on record again. This time for saying that I do not see myself as cut from the same cloth as others. ;) :)

Cut from the same cloth?

::wonders to self, if similar conversation is going on right now about CBers on Point Buzz::
