Cypress Gardens gets variance for thrill ride

Cypress Gardens owners got the OK on Thursday to build one of its rides 120.5 feet high. The county's board of adjustment granted a request for a height variance for the "Thunder Bolt Shot Tower," which will haul riders up into the skyline and then drop them in a free-fall.
