Buescher: Hurricanes contributed to the demise of Cypress Gardens before its rebirth

Five years after Hurricane Charley, which on Aug. 13, 2004, became the first of three hurricanes to smash through Polk in a six-week period, former Cypress Gardens owner Kent Buescher vividly remembers the scene that changed the path of his business life and nearly ruined him financially.
