Six Flags New England seeks permanent zoning variance

Local officials are considering a proposal that would allow Six Flags New England to build roller coasters and other rides up to 200 feet in height without a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals. If approved by City Council, the zoning ordinance amendment would speed up permitting and help Six Flags avoid a repeat of the process this spring that resulted in the park giving up its plans to build the Dark Knight Coaster, its supporters said.
