UK Skyride cars bump in high winds, nothing actually happens

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

An amusement ride which was shut down after its carriages crashed into each other in mid-air with people on board is safe, its operator says. Passengers were terrified as a gust of wind sent empty carriages swinging at the top of the 60m (198ft) Sky Swing at Cardiff's Winter Wonderland. Sayers Amusements said it shut down automatically - as it should - when the wind got too strong on Friday.

Proving once again, an empty swing is the most dangerous swing of all.

If nothing happens then who cares?

Exactly.

If skyride cars bump in the wind and nobody cares, do they make a sound?

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I always get my metaphors confused. To this day I ask people, "If a bear ****s in the woods, does it make a sound?" That doesn't even make sense.

I guess it depends. Am I in the woods when the bear ****s? Was a bran muffin involved?

If a man speaks in the woods and his wife isn't around, is he still automatically wrong?

But then again, what do I know?

I always thought the bear was Catholic, and it was the Pope who sh@t in the woods.

This pope is so awesome, he could poop on a bear, in the woods, and still not make a sound.

Why don't they just replace the seats with bumper cars? Problem solved (and more thrilling too...)
