Travel Tips - Check here before asking!

On our july 4th weekend, we had to take several detours---some required by water across roads (big storms!), and some laid out by The Authorities, but very poorly marked.

The first thing I did when I got home is buy a TomTom 130s. $200 at Best Buy this week. Plugged it into my car, and it is *amazingly cool*.

If you are going to be doing serious roadtripping, get yourself one of these.

I couldn't agree more with Brian. I remember printing out pages of directions for a very large east coast trip years ago. Having a GPS receiver would have made the trip so much easier.

Just to let all you travelers know, if you are planning a trip to great escape, stay away from this hotel!!!

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g48462-d246794-Reviews-America_s_Best_Inn_Glens_Falls_Queensbury-Queensbury_New_York.html

The worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Walked into the room, and walked right out. I have never had to do this in my hundreds of hotel stays over the years. It is the only hotel that I have requested a refund. I am still waiting for the refund, because the owner is only there once a week...so they say.

This place was just NASTY!!

Everything from large stains on the bedding, to the bugs on the wall and the car on bricks in the parking lot.

If your looking for a deal on a room, stay in albany(about 45 min from the park). We ended up in the days inn albany on wolf rd. The rates for the room were great and the room was very nice. We paid $63 a night.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Bump.

Thought this thread would be worth bumping with the recent rash of threads asking about what to expect for upcoming trips, etc. Hope it's not out of line posting one of Moosh's old topics. :(

Jeff, do you think it's worth sticky-ing (again)?

Yep... pinned. Remember that in the event you want to link to a specific post, use "link" link on the specific post. (This is particularly useful for us moderators, because with the deleted spam posts, there are more pages for us. That, and when you use the "link," the forum magically figures out the page and scrolls to the post.)

Wait...was this topic already pinned? I just noticed the pinned topics under General Buzz, which I never access. I always hit the recent topics view.

It used to be, but no one was really contributing to it or reading it, so I unpinned.

I never knew about the "link" thing. Cool!
