Theme park in Jurassic World borrows heavily from familiar attractions

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The trailer for the forthcoming Jurassic World movie shows scenes from an imaginary theme park that look a lot like actual Orlando attractions, with monorails and an aquatic stadium.

Ha! I just noticed the "Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville" on the midway.

I want to see this movie next summer, but it's got none of the original cast in it so I'm not too sure about it. I'm still willing to give it a chance.

Brian

Having members of the original cast hasn't exactly been a recipe for success for the sequels, so I was quite relieved to seem them starting somewhat fresh.

It's got Chris Pratt. What more do you need?

I guarantee he is going to ride a raptor after he wrecks that bike.

The only original cast member I want to see again is that little girl from from the first movie. I want the dino to get another shot at her, because her whiny ass should have been offed in the first film.

I'd even pay for the Imax if it were her on that hook in the Shamu style stadium in the new film.

Wait... Raptor's not at a Florida theme park.. :)

It does have a Jaws 3-D vibe about it.

Apparently she's busy painting these days.

I'm crushing on Chris Pratt. He's gone from doofus to hunkus.

I think this show looks great, and seems like a clever glimpse into what happened "after". Which is everything a proper sequel should be. I'm going for sure.

A safe and happy Thanksgiving to all my friends here at CoasterBuzz.

B. D. Wong is reprising his role as Doctor Wu, the guy who explained why the dinosaurs couldn't breed in the first film. Presumably he'll bring that level of scientific insight to this film.

So now you can go see it in good conscience. You're welcome.

And as luck would have it, AMC is running an every-movie Jurassic Park marathon today so I watched the original and I didn't realize that (a younger) B. D. Wong was in it. He plays the expert role so well, doesn't he?

I really like the JP franchise a lot. They're fantastic, all right, but also are a little scary.

Plus, they always remind me of my trip to Kauai. :-)

Indeed. Kauai is like America's best little secret.

Just saw that she plays the "mom" in this movie who sends her kids into the park. The world has indeed come full circle.

I guess she didn't learn her lesson the first go 'round?!?

But then again, what do I know?

Spoiler:

In the longer trailer she tells her kids, one of whom looks like he's not sure about this dino trip, as they're about to get on an airplane, "if something chases you, run".

What mother in the their right mind, after going through what she did as a child, would tell her kids that?

I was right, she should have been a t-rex treat in the first film

But running isn't always the best option. If it's a T-Rex chasing you, hide & be perfectly still. Their vision is based on motion. Again, did she learn nothing?

You learn something new every day. Maybe next we'll get a prequel that combines Russel Crowe's Noah with Jurassic Park.

p.s.: Thanks to Lord Gonchar's FB post about a related topic that led to this irrational search for what some people believe about dinosaurs. :)
