Not sure what it would mean for the parks, but outside of that specific area I really don't like this deal. Content producers and the deliverer(s) of that content should be wholly separate. Hopefully this won't pass the FCC/FTC scrutiny it is sure to draw.

I'm guessing that NBC doesn't have a large-engouh market share of "content" for this to meet the US anti-trust bar. If this were in the EU, they might pay more attention, but probably not here.

I'm sure they don't meet that market-share level, but I would hope the recent focus of the FCC and the new vigor it seems to have to actually be proactive and consumer friendly would be enough to make them at least glance this way and give it some thought. If nothing else it at least merits a strong discussion of separating content and delivery no matter what the market share.

Yeah, I've been saying since the beginning that owning the content and the pipe is a dangerous situation. Comcast already owns several networks (like G4, which sucks), but I don't know if they do anything shady like put them in lower channel numbers or whatever.

That's a great article. Ars has actual attorneys writing for them, and several specialize in IP and media law. But it brings up a lot of my concerns, and references my continuing frustration with deregulation as religion. Commercial radio sucks today because of deregulation.

Commercial radio sucks because the music (if you can call it that) is just plain crappy.

If I have a choice, I'll drop in a CD instead.

If its music that you're after (as opposed to talk radio), and you have a smart phone with a data plan, get something like Pandora. Its a lot more free than satellite radio.

What difference does it make? Who do you think puts the crappy music on radio? Clear Channel, and they own the stations they do because of deregulation.
