Ok we are tentativly planning on going to SF Great America, Gurnee Il. on october 17th. I have checked just about every possible place I can think of for discount tickets and used the tips on travel tips here. I called the park to see if there were discounts, the person on the phone was nice enough to tell me that a very small percentage of people pay the full advertised admission of 54.99. She also told me that she couldn't tell me where to find them, but there was a better deal than the "discounted" Pay the kid's price ticket of 34.99 and suggested I check the forums on fan sites for info on where to find the "better" deal. So after searching and not finding it, does anyone know of this coupon for a better deal? Your help will be greatly apperciated.

Depends on where you are coming from. If you are in Wisconsin, I think you can still get discounted tix at Pick N Save stores. My guess is you can get discounted tix at just about any grocery chain.

Riverview Mike, as I stated in my orginal post, there was a better deal than the "discounted" Pay the kid's price ticket of 34.99, which I did find on the Main home page for SFGA, the lady stated there was a better deal available.

Kick the Sky, thanks for the suggestion, I will be heading to SFGA from Michigan.

Has anybody made it out to SFGAm for fright fest yet this year? I was wondering how the decorations and themin were. Also wondering if the haunted houses were any good. I'll be going on Columbus day so unfortunately the park will be closes before it really even gets dark, but none the less I'm super excited, as I missed out last year.

I went to the park yesterday for the first time this year. Crowds were a light in the morning and pretty light throughout the day. I went on Raging Bull right at rope drop. I got two rides in a row, very nice. I was impressed with the park as they had 3 trains lined up ready to go at park opening on Raging Bull. Went back to Raging Bull around 2 PM to catch a couple more rides and was only about a one train wait each time. On days like this I wish they would allow the current flash pass entrance (formally turn around gate) to be used for re-rides since the wait did not even extend out of the station.

You will notice when you walk into the park that they no longer have the fright fest music playing or any scaracharacters until the "chill by night" comes around. That kind of takes away from the theme if you enter earlier in the day. However, they have the pop top hits playing throughout the park.

The only water ride in the park open was BB, which I did a couple of battles on (major walk-on). That is a fun ride and people were actually playing along with the cannons along the ride. I like the idea of being able to spray defense less individuals waiting in line. However, after a couple of rides I was wet for the next couple of hours in about 50 degree weather, which wasn't the brightest idea, but was fun. I would like them to close this ride and bring back the days of

Also went to the LAFF show, which is a fine musical for the park. The haunted areas were better this year than the last couple of years, but seem to be more concentrated. Additionally it appears there are more up charged areas for the haunted attractions, but with a season pass a couple of them were waived. I still miss the Boo Line it really spruced up the train. Overall beautiful sweatshirt wearing day with opportunity to get many rides.

I was there for the ACE event on Saturday and the general decorations were 'good' and as Brad stated above me, the "scare-actors" don't come out until later in the day to promote the "Family friendly" daytime vibe - of which I like because as a parent of a little one, light scary stuff works, but not the rest.

That being said the Mausoleum of Terror is great. As part of the event, were allowed to have a walk-through of the Mausoleum with the lights on and off to see the effects and discuss its' construction with the Manager (Kristen - forgot her last name) in charge of it. It was really good and they have a new animatronic that is great - especially with the lighting set-up on it.

Before you get yourself too amped up for the 'scary' part of it, make sure the hours that they will be doing the haunts on Columbus day - they usually don't start the haunted houses until later in the afternoon.

Do a favor to yourself and catch some of the shows - especially Dead Man's Party and Love at First Fright. DMP was a quick 30 minute show in the snowshoe saloon (get there early, seating is VERY limited) but had great sining and non-stop action. LaFF was a funny musical that has (for the most part-other than current event 'drop-ins') remained the same all 17 years it has been at GAm.

It was great yesterday! Whizzer is 'Swamp Thing' - very good for the family and kids (and me!). Got 1 one, then 6 rides in a row at the end of the night. Green lights everywhere, in the station, and smog and a Predator dressed up as Swamp Thing before the brakes.

2 times on Raging Bull, pretty much low-excitement as usual, it's a B&M.

2 Demons without getting off - very nice all the smoke, red lights, etc.

All my complaining about American Eagle not running both sides for all these years - finally seems to have payed off. Faster than hell at night on red side - don't ever remember the ride running this great. Kicker airtime in the back (and front), and racing most of the day. We got one ride, then back later for 7 rides in a row. The ride operators Ryan and Sam earned themselves a guest compliment by not slamming lap bars (they pulled up on them), and generally being 'up', smiling and guests and getting trains out efficiently.

Viper was running good, getting a little bumpy this year after being smooth as silk for years.

The newly-painted Sky Trek tower looks horrible, Superman Blue with a Superman Red top. Ug! Other than that, the day was great, not enough actors in the park, but everything was running and near capacity.

The only haunt's we did were Necropolis and Area 51. Not very populated, but nicely decorated. Kinda sad to not see any of the Trolls on the Troll bridge, but having all the rides running and staffed more than made up for it.

Hmm. The trolls were there in the afternoon both days this weekend - I even got them to pose for a photo with my daughter.

And regarding Sky Trek Tower -- I like the blue column, plus I think it will show wear and tear less than the white it has been painted in the past.

I checked it out on sunday, and had a great time.

We really enjoyed the chabasco in the dark. They sealed the ride off and added fog, lighting, and loud techno music.

We did not do any of the haunted houses as I had my 3 year old with me.

The only rides that were shut down were the water rides(except bb), sky tower, and condor(not sure why it was closed).

The love at first fright show was great as well.

I actually like it. Makes it look like a brand new tower. However, they should paint the cabin white so you have the American flag colors.

Another thing I noticed around the park was the advertisement for the 2010 season pass for $64.99, which included the rest of this season. However, what caught my eye was they were advertising that this is the lowest price in 18 years. We were undecided if that is something to be proud of and advertise or not? A couple of thoughts go through my head. First is that is a great deal and I want to get it. Second thought is that what is going on that the price needs to be the lowest price in 18 years!

We however, did pick up the season pass about a month ago when they were selling the pass for $64.99 with a $10 Papa John's gift card.

I got my pass for 2010 a few weeks ago at six flags Atlanta. Only paid $49.00.

Only bummer is that I have to go back next year to add the parking to it, because they did not have the parking for sale yet for next season.

My wife just told me she got discount coupons at Taco Bell. Not sure on the amount of discount. Another option if the local grocery stores don't help.

$65 or $49......Eather way it's a great deal.

This is another thing that bugs me about cedar fair. There passes are going for over $100.00 more than six flags in most cases.
