Re: Retheming nickelodeon areas at Cedar Fair parks
Viacom is a licensing mess with Nickelodeon. The Nick Hotel in Orlando was opened by Holiday Inn (InterContinental Group), but the deal for an entire chain (presumably with the first one opening in San Diego next year -- but I haven't heard much on that lately) was signed with rival Marriott.
The beauty of a Nick license -- unlike past Cedar Fair ties with Peanuts, Berenstein Bears, etc. -- is that it's not dated. It's not putting all of its eggs in one basket, because it can always refresh its rides to the latest shows and have meet and greets with the hottest characters.
I'm not sure why Kings Island still has a Little Bill theme to its kiddie coaster or Wild Thornberrys to its flume ride -- I can't remember the last time that Nick aired any of those shows -- but Nickelodeon offers the flexibility to stay fresh and in tune with the children.
