Wildebeest is the world’s longest water coaster, opening in May at Splashin' Safari. It's one-third of a mile long and it will thrill riders for two-and-a-half splashing minutes of hills, drops, twists and turns.

Located to the north of Bahari wave pool, Wildebeest will begin with a conveyor ride up the water coaster’s lifthill. Following the four-story drop at a 45-degree angle, linear induction motors (LIMs) will propel the four-person rafts up seven additional hills, through three tunnels (two of them underground) and around a helix. Wildebeest will cover more than two acres; its top speed will hit 36 feet per second. Wildebeest’s tallest elevation is 64 feet higher than its lowest drop; the conveyor-style lifthill replaces any slide-tower stairs, making the water coaster accessible to riders who might have difficulty walking up stairs.

Very cool. Looks like a great addition to the park.

If I'm doing my math right, 36 feet per seconds equals about 24.5 MHP.

Kennywood should take note this is the proper way to announce a new attraction. Multiple videos, pictures, layout, logo, etc. Well done!

My God, are we still complaining about Kennywood's announcement technique? For real?

The ride looks way cool.

I gues with my sister taking a job in Indy, it'll give me an excuse to visit her.

Have LIM's been used on a water coaster before? I've only ever seen the Master Blaster type rides.

Nice to see HW keep expandng.

SFKK's Deluge uses the LIM system.

Yeah, either that or Holiday World could take note and put in a steel coaster...

Re: Holiday World and Splashin' Safari announces Wildebeest, world's longest water coaster

I love the place and all, but waterpark attractions (to me) are about as exciting as a new Johnny Rockets at the local SF. I can see how this makes sense though.

Re: Holiday World and Splashin' Safari announces Wildebeest, world's longest water coaster

It makes good sense, and I've been thinking for a while that a ride like this would make a great addition to the waterpark.

I rode the ride at SFKK last year and it was fun, albeit kinda short. The LIM's cause an interesting sensation on the way up hills, you kinda feel like you're being pulled along. I liked it. Holiday World's will be even better.

That looks like fun! I bet it'll have decent capacity for a waterslide. I love that the park posted an on-ride video, just like the coasters.

How did they make that video anyways?

Right, I'm really gonna have to get to Holiday World next year. Not sure how or when, but damn I'm gonna try.

Home run. Again.

I used to feel this way. I never did waterparks, but this year I talked two non-enthusiasts into going to HWN and they said if they were going, I had to do the waterpark. I agreed as my compromise, and as much as I did not want to do it, I had a great time. It was no Voyage, but still, it was a great time. If you have not tried Splashing Safari, I recommend giving it a shot some time.

RCMAC - - -> I have never been there, but you are right. Most of the things they put in seem to "make sense." They always seem to please their audience.

What I find impressive is...unlike most places, Holiday World seems to add "major" attractions without removing things that are already there.

Not too many parks can say that. I think it's called "growth."

Well it helps when you have half the county to expand into.
