HairLoss.com, the leading social network website dedicated to raising public awareness about hair loss issues is calling for officials at Freestyle Music Park in Myrtle Beach, SC, to cease running a popular television ad promoting their Time Machine roller coaster or face a boycott.
"The officials at Freestyle Music Park should be ashamed and embarrassed for not only promoting this cheap, low-level and insulting ad, but then by defending it as 'fun'," said Michael Garcia, spokesman for HairLoss.com. "We should be past so-called 'funny ads' that are humorous at the expense of people who suffer from a physical disability."
The television ad shows the 150-foot-tall roller coaster moving so fast that a man loses his hairpiece. The owner of a hair replacement business in South Carolina, Dennis Murphy, first challenged the park's claim by riding the roller coaster without his very own hairpiece - or hair system - falling off. He then asked, "Why should you have to be harassed or made fun of because you want to do something" about your hair loss?

OK, so I get advocacy for issues surrounding disease, chemo, etc., but making a funny around male pattern baldness? Seriously? Don't most men just expect that as you get older, hair gets thinner on top and starts appearing everywhere else?

Now we're in the territory of "PETA vs the President" over Obama swatting a fly. Did the owners of FMP really suggest that "hairpieces/hair restoration isn't worth your time and money"? They were trying to suggest that their rides were super-fast...not condemning the hair restoration industry.

If they ever perfect the back to head transplant I will be needing a comb again.

Being "follicularly challenged" myself, I find nothing offensive in poking a little fun at myself. The problem arises when people are overly sensitive about silly things, instead of having a sense of humor about themselves.

Wow, does that mean I can get a handicapped sticker for my car, so I can park up close along with the people who require wheelchairs? Maybe I can collect social security disability checks and not have to work because of my "disability."

I've seen that ad before... I thought he just had "rock-n-roll hair" after his ride. I didn't even realize it was a hair piece.

So can I start a group of men suffering from ED to boycott BGE due to the nude statue on a woman in their fountain? This sort of torment has to stop! LOL... I love things like this, makes me laugh more than the ad itstelf.

I hear that Six Flags has a new policy requiring all hair pieces be placed in lockers before boarding the rides. You can never be too careful....
