A suspicious object was found Friday in the first section of Cedar Point's public parking behind the handicap spaces. A visitor spotted the item and notified park authorities, who then called Sandusky police. Police officials called in the Lorain County Bomb Squad, who removed the object at about 1 p.m. and destroyed it using a remote-controlled robot.

Wait...I thought the bomb was that large wooden object at the far end of the park.

Any chance in having the bomb squad implode Disaster Transport while they're there?

Wow, I didn't know Lorain County had a bomb squad. Graduating from High School in that county, it seemed pretty bad off since we barely got lunch.

They called in the Lorain county bomb squad? Erie county doesn't have one? That's quite the drive from Elyria.

With a loud pop, the suspicious device was ripped into pieces by a high-velocity column of water shot by the robot.

Therobot is equipped with a gun barrel that is packed with a blank shotgunround and water, said Lorain County Bomb Squad commander Karl Yost.

Neat!

Ba dum dum. Thess're the jokes, folks!

Freakish though. I'm sure it caused quite the commotion.

No, this was an attempt from "Tin Foil Hats Our Us" to empty out the CP parking lot.

I was at the park today and knew nothing of this till I saw it here. I guess if you weren't in the parking lot it wasn't a big deal. I tend to think that people take these "suspicious package" things way too seriously, but I guess that's the times we live in.

Well it's gotta be better than not taking the suspicious package seriously.

Re: Bomb squad destroys object found in Cedar Point's parking lot

That reminds me of a time when we were at Disney (I know shock.. I was at Disney)..

We were coming back from ToT/RR towards Hollywood Blvd, and apparently someone left a suspicious plastic bottle on the ground. The amusing yet fascinating part of this was the way the Cast Members cornered it off in its early discovery while they waited for police to arrive.

They surrounded it in such a way that if you really wernt paying attention, it looked like guests standing around. Very nonchalant of them to the point I didnt realize what they were doing until I passed them.

Unfortunately I dont know the end result as we had to meet with someone, but was kind of impressed how the initial stage was handled to keep it sheltered from the public. Im sure once officials arrived its a bit more difficult, but initially was cool.
