Six Flags Magic Mountain June 29
Well, I never thought I would ever say these words, but I actually had a really good day at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I admit to being a CF fan, and have never really liked SF from an enthusiasts, or business practices standpoint, but after visiting the park yesterday, I have changed some thoughts about the park.
I had not been to SFMM in three years. One of my best friends (and employees) and I were in Vegas on business, and decided to head down to LA Saturday night, going to the park all day on Sunday, and we are now back in Vegas waiting for our flight home. (sorry, I digress)
The day started with the "fungineering show" at the park entrance. Although the show didn't really 'amp up' the guests, I did admire the "guts" of the two guys running the show. Regardless, they truly seemed to be into it, and gave every indication they believed what they were doing.
We purchased a Fast Pass Gold, so it is easy to understand how we managed to get 27 coaster rides in during the day. I had never purcahsed a flash pass, but felt it was worth it.
From an employee standpoint, ALL the employess that I interacted with were friendly, polite and smiled. I did have a small problem with my flash pass, as they did not activate our X2 ride properly. The staff handled it quickly and even suggested the 830pm ride reservation time, which I am very glad was suggested. The view from X2 shortly after sunset should be a poster somewhere.
It was unbelievably hot yesterday, and we asked for, and pleasantly received large cups of ice water at every request. I saw staff "blowing" the walks with leaf blowers on two seperate occasions, and the landscaping seemed to be in great shape as well.
The only 'unusual' thing in the day was Tatsu opening late. Their was some issue, as they had the walk from Revolution to the summit blocked off, and we could see a crane operating at or near the entrance to Tatsu. The ride opened in the early afternoon however and continued to run just fine the rest of the day.
Terminator Salvation was really good, but in my personal opinion is almost as good as Prowler. The tunnels and effects definitely highten the ride experience, and I like the station fly-through. The pre-show was good as well.
The only question I have is Colossus. Does the left side ever run? I have never seen it run, and the trains in the brake run almost appeared to be used as 'parts' for the right side trains.
I truly have a new found respect for SF, as my day at SFMM was a great one.

I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
