The Sea Dragon, a swinging ship ride at Beech Bend, was purchased last year from Michael Jackson's private Neverland ranch. The park has erected an impromptu memorial to Jackson, and offered free rides on it Sunday evening.

The rule is that you HAVE to have a child to ride it... Too Soon?

^yeah too soon while being about 10 or so years too late at the same time...

Anyay, I didn't know so many people followed the relocation of rides but I guess being from a place like Neverland it's going to be quite known. Crazy week with all of these celebrity deaths anyway. Usually they come in 3's, but then Billy Mays was found dead and it jumped to 4. =/

^Some of us follow every ride relocation we can...it's just a lot easier to do with coasters than with flats. (Thanks, Duane).

I tried like hell to keep MJ out of the news here, but alas, this was a bona fide story.

Actually, I count Carradine, then Ed, Farrah, MJ, Maya, and now Fred Travalena. With Cronkite possible soon.

Is the park publicizing the ride/MJ link, or is it just common knowledge?

The fact they are installing a permanant plaque is a nice gesture.

I wonder if other owners that bid on the other rides at Neverland are going to follow suit (heck, it helps for business too).

Maybe Charles Nungester can clue us in on where the train ride went to.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

let's add Gale Storm to that growing list.

And it's ok, Jeff. He's everywhere, and it's only going to get bigger.

Does anyone else recall a connection between Michigan's Adventure and Neverland?

Chitown, which train? There were two different ones at the Ranch. One was a Chance CP Huntington that circled the park, the other a heavily modified Crown Metal Products three foot gauge steam locomotive and cars. The latter cicumnavigated most of the property. My understanding is that the CPH was sold, the Crown was not and is in storage under cover at an undisclosed location.

I heard MJ died from food poisoning. He had been eating an 11-yr-old weiner.

(wait for it....)

Poor MJ. He can't even get away from the tasteless jokes even after his death. That was a good one, Moosh!

It may seem nice for the park to create a kind of memorial to MJ with the ride, but I fear that it is not because they loved MJ, but rather they want the publicity, and the money that comes with it.

What are Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Ed McMahon expecting at Christmas?

Patrick Swayze.

(I'm here all night, folks. Twice on weekends)

www.steamlocomotive.com still list the 4-4-0 Kathrine at Neverland.

I wasn't aware that rides had been sold off.Chuck, who wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come into someones private collection

The Crown is a former Kings Dominion Loco.

I remember hearing a ride from MIA went to Neverland or vice-versa several years ago, but I don't recall what it was.
