PointBuzz has posted a new gallery featuring photos from Cedar Point's new light show, Starlight Experience.

Each night, Frontier Trail is transformed into a canopy of lights and colors that are themed to the changing of the seasons. The show extends from the bridge across from the Snake River Falls water ride to the tunnel beneath Millennium Force.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

This blew my mind. There's almost an optical illusion where there seems to be distance between the lights and the leaves behind them. And now that I've seen it, I can't look at it any other way.

The winter section is easily the most interesting. Wait until you see the video.

Almost seems to me they went all out when starting, but the budget got cut as you got into the other "seasons". Not to say the other seasons aren't nice, but the Christmas area is so, perhaps overdone, in comparison.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

Ever since I saw you shooting it in the park Saturday, I have been waiting patiently. Lance was talking pretty fast too. I didn't retain a lot of what he said. I defiantly want to see that video too. I got some pretty nice shots with my point and shoot. I'm sure the video will be sweet.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

It was definitely not a budget issue as much as it was a "holy crap we open soon" issue. The lights themselves are probably not the most expensive part of the project, but rather the dimmers, controls and a whole mess of electrical and wired/wireless networking to make it all work.

What this project really did for them is open up a lot of doors to use the entire trail as a "show" space, and I suspect the Fright Zone will be the best it has ever been because of the systems now in place.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

I gotta admit I was very impressed with the Experience. To the point I had to walk through (and stop) numerous times. Though I did go into childish mode and giggled at the thought of seeing Charlie Brown with nipple piercings.. (the support straps for the inflatables clamped to a very suggestive location).

Either way.. Bravo.. It was quite impressive. I hope to be able to get back up there later in the year and see it again.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

If you haven't been to the park in a while, Starlight is just about worth going on its own merits alone.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

Night rides on Millennium Force are quite different with Starlight. Going up the lift hill with millions of twinkling lights below you, then flying around through them.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

^Still doesnt beat the Halloweekend night ride though, with you rolling in and out of fog the whole ride thanks to the Fright Zone and Terror Island.

Re: PointBuzz posts photos from Starlight Experience

I've wanted a Haloweekend night ride on Millennium Force, but have yet to get one. I suspect it was even better last year with the addition of Terror Island.
