One of Kentucky's most historic parks is Bowling Green's Beech Bend, the subject of a recent book by Robert Dickey.

Dickey spoke with the Herald-Leader about his book, Charles Garvin's Dynasty of Dimes, on the history of the park, its dime admission price and lovingly eccentric owner, Garvin. Among Dickey's favorite anecdotes from the book is the enduring legend of buried treasure at Beech Bend.

Re: Beech Bend owes longevity to almighty dime

I like the article. I may have to look for the book, when we get to the Beech Bend area, on June 28th.

Long live the almighty dime.
