Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

Haven't heard about the fate of this coaster recently. Is it being torn down or will it rot for a second season?

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

Last I heard was it won't open. The ride(s) aren't listed on the website. I love the pay for rides we won't open policy. Pay as much or more than you did in previous seasons but get less park even though you can see the rides. Gotta man those over priced midway games. Only a chain with parking fees $15 and up could come up with that policy and think it's a good idea.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

SFKK uses the Kentucky Downs parking lot. Last time I was there it was only $3 to park.

As for Twisted Twins that whole area of the park (including the shoot-the-chutes, if I recall correctly) will remain closed this year.

Shhhhh... Moosh. Don't interrupt the Six Flags hating. You know that's the "in" thing these days.

Oh, I haven't jumped on the SF bandwagon. 2009 will once again be a SF-free year for me...and that's with the new GCI going in 30 mins down the road from me.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

Mamoosh isn't going to SF this year. That is the most shocking thing I have ever read on this site.

My mother once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

Moosh isn't the only one.

Funny considering Moosh is one of the most vocal, visible, consistent, and dogged critics the chain has around here.

My opinion of SF is well-known...let's move back to the original topic.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

Twisted Twins is not in the 2009 budget for SFKK...the park had no comment on Mile High Falls.

But hey, at least we are getting a brand new...film at Thrill Park Theatre.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

They haven't made a decision yet they can still be swayed. Someone emailed them a while ago and they sent this back:
Mike,

Thank you for writing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom! Twisted Twins and Mile High Falls are located in Northwest Territory of the park. This area of the park is not closed indefinitely. It is being reviewed for possible expansion options. Thank you again for your inquiry!

Sincerely,

Frank Doninger

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

We stopped last year after Rumblefest to get our SP passes. Mainly for later use at SFGADV. We took a quick lap of the park. The main thing that changed was the operations and friendlyness. Two trains on T2 and Chang. Efficient on Thunder Run. Lots of Ties walking about asking if you were enjoying your time. The northwest territory and the removal of Hellevator certainly detracted from the amount to do, but what was open was enjoyable. EXCEPT FOR THE ONE PERSON STAFFED FOODSTANDS which we skipped and ate on the way home.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

I would imagine they will eventually expand the water park to there.

Maybe they'll run film footage of Twisted Twins?

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

Last I heard they have plans for the area, but don't get funding to do any of it.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

It's been a while since I have been to that park, but was there only 3 rides in that area? I remember the water ride, twisted twins and a kiddy ride(maybe a balloon ride). How much does it cost to run 3 rides?

If thats the case, how much money can they actualy save by closing it off? Weigh that against the bad press of the park closing that entire section off, and I don't see where or how it can benifit them. They are charging the same amount to get into the park also.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

I've lived 3 1/2 hours from SFKK for a few years now, and I still don't feel any desire to visit. The park is small enough as it is. They only have a few coasters, a few flats, and a small, probably overcrowded, waterpark.

Their choice to close one of those coasters, which is actually two coasters, leads me to have even less of a desire to visit. Kings Island is about a 3 1/2 hour drive from me as well. Which park do you think I'm going to visit?

No thanks, KK. You are not a good value.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

It is not just operating cost, but Mile High Falls and the Twins both need some refurbishment that the park is not getting money for. I know that I have an unpopular opinion, but SFKK is getting better each year. It used to be a real load of doo-doo back in the day before Six Flags took control. There used to be graffiti on everything from the ferris wheel cars to the trash cans. There used to be very little landscaping. It is slowly changing for the better and unfortunately there are too many factors out of the hands of local management to make it even better.

I would go back to SFKK just to get re-rides on Greezed Lightnin'.

Re: Anything new about Twisted Twins at SFKK?

I know nothing about their operations, or quality...

But I've already rode almost everything that they offer at other parks.
