I was wondering if the fact that Cedar Fair now seems willing (and perhaps eager) to sell parks that would have any impact on an offer the 49ers might make. Seems to me this gives them cover to lowball it. It will be interesting to see how this gets tackled.

John, I was going to try and DRIVE home some more jokes but I didn't know if they would be RECEIVED well and sometimes I tend to FUMBLE my words. I should CHARGE for these jokes but you would probably demand your QUARTERBACK.

Perhaps they could retheme to the NFL. New Orleans Saints Square (Rue Le Dodge could have football player cars), New England Patriots Harbor, Yukon Territory could change to Seattle Seahawks Territory, Hometown Square, with its victorian buildings could become San Francisco 49ers Square, and County Fair, which doesn't have all that much theming left, could be something generic like Gridiron Fair (or make it Raiderland since they are not to far away).

Or this could be a sign to the 49ers that CP is not joking about their offer to sell Great America, and to make a legitimate offer for it.

The 49ers are asking for $109 million tax dollars from Santa Clara to subsidize construction of the new stadium (though they've indicated they might be willing to take less up front due to the economy). And, the GA land is considered essential to the stadium deal. So since it's money that technically doesn't belong to the 49ers, CF has no reason not to ask for whatever amount of it they want for what the team wants. Maybe CF should ask for enough to retire their entire debt! The 49ers will just leech it from taxpayers, whatever the final price.
