I have never met Mary Lou personally, but everyone I've talked to says I should put her in the list with Grandma from Conneaut, Jeff S. from KI/Schlitterbahn, THE Raven Maven, the dude running the coaster at Nut Tree, and the long-departed "Heather the Stapler" from Knott's. More companies should recognize the way some people go WAY above and beyond in presenting, and representing, their parks.

Jeff Siebert and Maureen Kaiser at Kings Island, Lexi Robinson at Geauga Lake, Mary Lou Rosemeyer at Kennywood. I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Who's next? All these people who were seemingly perfect for their position and yet they're gone.

I could be completely incorrect with this info, but at the past couple events that I have seen her present at, she has made hints about "when I retire," leading me to believe that, while she may have been cut sooner than she expected, they might have pushed her into retirement, since she was going to retire sooner than later anyway (rather than cutting a younger, lesser paid person). Although I'm a bit skeptical, I'm still not convinced that Parques Reunidos is a big bad company. They're just doing what they have to do to help their American parks [maintain their profitability during a potentially challenging period for the US economy].

Kennywood was surviving just fine and IMO would have continued to do so through this economy. Parques Reunidos is just doing what publicly traded companies do.

Kennywood needed no help "staying afloat." They have the most profitable parks in the chain.

I wasn't trying to make it sound like the parks are Failing (I corrected my wording in that post). I was thinking along the lines that they were being proactive in maintaining that profitability, doing what big companies (that don't have emotional ties to a certain location) do (as eightdotthree basically said)... I cringe when I think long-term, and it sucks that they are cutting people, but I thought, maybe in the case with Marylou, it wasn't as big of a deal as the article made it seem because she was most likely going to retire 'soon' anyway (which was just an educated guess on my part).
