2009 Season Pass Renewal for CP - E Ticket

Has anyone read the small print on the 2009 CP Platinum Pass renewal form:

Redemption: The 2009 E Ticket may be redeemed for one 2009 CF Platinum Pass ID card. Bearer must be between the ages of 3-61, 48 inches or taller, and a 2008 Platinum Passholder. Your 2008 Platinum Season Pass ID card must be presented at the time of redemption, or bearer will be charged the difference the Platinum Regular renewal and non-renwal rate before a 2009 ID will be issued.

I do not believe that the difference is huge maybe $20. But is this really necessary. Can CF make things a little more difficult?

Hmmm....I guess I cannot get my pass processed at Kings Island in the spring now.

There are many 2009 CF season pass policies that annoy me.

• As, you mentioned Platinum Passes must be processed at park of purchase. Part of the reason they were set to the same price was so they could be processed any where in the chain without anyone getting a discount.
• You have to have a 2008 Platinum pass to renew to a 2009 Platinum pass. This discourages a 2008 regular passholder from upgrading to a Platinum pass in 2009.
• 2009 season passes aren't valid the rest of 2008. At least make it a benefit of the Platinum Pass to help justify the extra cost.
• WOF and KD's parking passes are good at all CF parks. CW's are only good at CW.
• CGA's Gold and Platinum passes claim to exclude parking at Gilroy Gardens. No other CF park mentions this when they sell Platinum Passes.
• Season Pass prices across the chain went down, while Platinum Pass prices went up, further discouraging people from upgrading.

You've got it all wrong. It's still a great value, and I can be reasonably sure that they're going to sell more, not less. Your objections are fringe cases.

That's why I just renew my pass at kings island even though cp is a lot closer to me. I just pay and my current pass is renewed thrue the next year.....no voucher, lines or having to make a special trip to get it activated before the parks start opening for the year.(Yes, I got a ki season pass instead of a cp pass)

It' a big pain in the ass to get passes processed at cp.

WOW I think the CP Platinum pass is a great value. Also, I have never had an issue getting my passes processed (2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008). I make sure I register it online, and of course, I don't go on opening day to get it processed, that would be dumb. If I want to go to the park opening weekend I make sure I hit the park the week before. Seems like anything that CP does people complain. I feel lucky to live near such a great park.

I have had two Cedar Point season passes in the past and could not imagine the process being much smoother.

Yeah, I had a smooth experience with my pass last season, as well. I was starting to wonder what I might be missing with these complaints.

And I still don't get the fuss about having to process the pass at the home park from which you purchased it. That only makes sense to me. The pass is a (enter park name pass here) Platinum Pass... the pass is for that particular park and the perk is using it at other locations.

Well when you have a park that is as close as kings island that opens weeks before cp, it makes a lot of sense. Cedarpoint is about 2 1/2 hours from me, kings island is just over 4 hours.

Say I did buy my pass at cp and I wanted(and do) to go to kings island before cp opend for the year, now I have to make a trip to cp durring the off season to activate my pass. Not to mention that when you work all week, and don't feel like driving 5 hours round trip on the weekend just to get your pass activated.

Plus, not having to deal with a voucher is a bonus as well. Closing weekend at kings island they just scanned my pass, I payed them and that was it. My pass is activated thrue the end of next season now.

Opening weekend I can just go right to the gates and not have to worry about having to deal with it.

So why don't you just buy a Kings Island pass if it is more convenient to process it there?

I don't see why a park should use their human resources and equipment to process passes for another park.

What really should be the case is that we should be able to walk up to the SP center in October and be able to purchase and process our pass at that time. That way there would really be no issues.

I think this all goes back to that thing where enthusiast types need to remember that 99.99% of park visitors don't have the same patterns, habits or needs.

Prior to 2007 I put up with CF inter-park pass inconvieneces. But now that I have to pay extra for my pass to be valid at other parks, it ought to be as convienent as reasonably possible.

While I cannot argue that the CF Platinum pass is a great deal if you are going mulitple times...it would be nice if CP/CF would re-introduce one old policy. Renewing SP holders can renew via the mail. CP is about 1.5 to 1.75 hours away depending on constuction (primarily in MI).

It would be nice to renew via mail or to be able to process the pass at KI while visiting KI. If I remember correctly KI opens mid April. It would just be nice to get in a rollercoaster fix before May. I think KI opens one full month prior to CP this year.

For the past two years CP has opened up SP processing before KI opens. Yes it means driving to Sandusky, but if you can do it, then you can get your SP in April.

Also, if you call them, Im sure that they can arrange something. I know last year they let people take their PP certificate to another park and gain admission for the day.

I'm going to order my KD pass online & plan on using it primarily at just that one location so visiting other parks in the chain using my pass isn't much of a concern for me,unlike for some others.

I wish you Guys would of had the same experience as me. As when I got my 2009 Platinum pass at Worlds of Fun. I was able to get it processed by the end of the 2009 Season. The card I got looked the same as the 2008 Season Pass with the exception of a Joe Cool Club Sticker added to it to distinguish it from the 2008. They've told me that I can get a new Pass ID if I want to get one with the new 2009 design when they came out in Early April when they start processing again, however that is not a requirement so I don't have to be processed again. I am just glad they were processing 2009 Passports at the End of the 2008 Season as that is very convenient. I wonder why Cedar Point doesn't do this, it makes better use of the Season Pass center late in the season and it eliminates the Pre Season Processing Lines you guys get over there.

I don't get it myself,I mean if you are an SF pass holder you have to get it processed at your "home park" before using it to gain entry to other parks in the chain so what's so different about doing so in the CF chain?

The big difference is that when you buy your SF pass you can get it processed at the same time, they don't make you buy a certificate and then come back later. Or you can renew online and use the previous year's photo and they will send you your pass in the mail. Or in my case, I had my partner renew both of our passes and mine was processed without my even having to be present, they just pulled up last year's photo, and handed my processed pass to him.

If I'm reading these posts correctly you can't process a CP pass until the new season and you must do it in person even if it is a renewal. That seems pretty far behind the times, and pretty inconvenient for a park that draws from such a large demographic area. I know when I used to live in Cleveland, CP's season pass processing was really slow. I often tried to go before opening week, but if I didn't manage to get there, I knew I could plan on wasting a good protion of my first visit of the season in a long, boring, slow-moving line.

When they did photo ID's, the certificate thing made more sense. Now that CF is on Gate Central, it makes less sense for renewals. They have your photo in the comprooder, just give them the damn card!

SFI was doing passes in much the same way for the last couple of years,they'd mail your pass ID with a photo from a previous year's pass & allow you to renew & activate it online.They sent me an 08 pass (with my 06 photo on it) but I didn't bother with actually purchasing/using it as I had no intention of visiting my local SF park last season & they better not bother sending one in the mail this year as it'll be a big waste of time since I don't plan on going there in 09 either.

As for CF's E-ticket season pass purchases:I had no trouble purchasing my pass last night & printing out my voucher,now all I've gotta do is get it processed on my first visit to KD of the 09 season.
