Astroland faces uncertain future, again

I am sure glad I got out there this year to see Astroland. If, as the article says, however, that they are planning on building newer rides, ect..., I might be for it as long as the Cyclone is saved.

From what I saw this summer, knowing that the Cyclone is owned by the Parks Department and merely operated and maintained (poorly) by Astroland...in all honesy, I'm not all that certain that Astroland is actually worth keeping open.

Sorry, but there really is nothing particularly special or noteworthy about the place. If it weren't for the Cyclone, they would have been gone long ago, and given the ride selection and the overall condition of the place, it wouldn't even generate that much attention.

What is she going to gaiu by keeping the park open for a year? I live only 5 minutes from the park and i'm ready for them to start the new project phase. Better jobs for people, more tourists, and other family friendly events is what i'm all about and can't wait for them to start the project.

Im glad I got there too, Finally! I agree Cyclone seemed under maintained but the experience was pure despite what had already been demolished. Pure Brooklyn. Certainly they haven't been getting the ground breaking and breakthru attractions that the park was long ago known for. However the experience wasn't bad either.

Don't know about the Thor Project. If they left the boardwalk, clone and wonder wheel alone, Im certain they could work around it.

I agree that there is nothing special about Astroland. The park is a collection of kiddy rides and high-intensity fairground attractions. The best thing about the park is that it exists where a lot more amusements used to exist, so it carries the amusement torch at Coney Island, so to speak. I think there is a lot of potential for a better park at that location, but right now it's a big part of what makes Coney an amusement destination and it's important.
