Kennywood officials want apology from legislators for disparaging Spanish owners

I saw this on the news last night. It sounds like they are trying to tax Kennywood more and using the excuse that they are foreign owned now and they shouldn't receive special treatment. While I am all for no special treatment, I don't believe they should be punished for being the only source of tax revenue in that area.

Reminds me of the tax collector in the movie Popeye.

What a bunch of assholes. Suddenly they change their tone because the owner changed? Either it's an unfair tax or it isn't. And it isn't.

Sounds like typical Pittsburgh/western PA talk. Anything from beyond the Allegheny mountains is evil and must be hated. Usually they reserve their most virulent hate for Philadelphia sports teams.

Huh?? Maybe the Flyers, but that's only because Cleveland doesn't have a team.

I like how the one politician is against this because Spain withdrew troops from Iraq. That's like blaming Burger King for Guantanamo.

Wow, I wrote that wrong. This is an unfair tax. It should be abolished.

As long we are talking politics I want more Guantanamo's.

Seriously really this is stupid, the tax is unfair. I am sure some of the steel mills in town are foreign owned.

There is only one steel mill left and its US Steel, supposedly the largest domestic manufacturer.

There are many steel mills in operation, but the 3 largest are US Steel owned. Some are partnered with overseas companies, but most are still domestic owned.

Where the heck are they cause I only ever see one! Pittsburgh as "steel town" is something the city struggles with.

Edgar Thompson in Braddock, Clairton Coke Works in Clairton, Mon Valley Works in Dravosburg are all USS facilities.

And yet I still wonder why so many foreigners have a bad image of Americans . . . *rolls eyes*

I think it's time to wrap up all this xenophobia in our country. We were the ones who spearheaded free trade, we were the ones who allowed our dollar to devalue until it was on par with lint. Of course foreign-owned corporations are going to try and buy American assets in that kind of situation. That doesn't make them evil, only intelligent. (At least they still seem to think American assets are worth buying.)

Someone took a leak in that guys fruit loops in the morning.

As long as a long secure future is what will become of the sale, I don't care who owns Kennywood.

If this means we'll have Kennywood Season Passes, and combo passes, in 2009, I'm all for it!
