So the people at the front gate with the metal detecters didnt find this or did they just let it go?

Just reinforces what I was talking about in my trip report. It's not that it's a bad park. It the crowd the park attracts that is less then desirable.

Yeah... This isn't happening at schools, shopping malls and other public places throughout the United States. Just like Tiger isn't sexually assaulting at Disney, there wasn't a kid stabbed at SFOG or Kings Dominion in the past. Just read a story where there was a stabbing on 16th Street in Ocean City, MD, do I need to bring up Virginia Tech, how about Columbine? How about the shopping mall in Colorado or the Lane Bryant store in Wisconsin?

Ask me, sounds like two drunk guys got into a fight. I'm willing to bet that security is tighter now than ever before.

Makes me wonder what he was "stabbed" with. The article doesn't specify. I'm thinking it wasn't a knife given the metal detectors, but who knows.

Makes sense, Jeff. What else would you do with a spork? It's goofy shape inevitably defeats both purposes for which it was really intended.

In fact, I would guess their argument probably started over the spork.

I've always felt safe visiting SFA and don't see that changing anytime soon. Likely an outside argument brought into the park, but however it was, it seems to more ammo for the "theme parks are dangerous" crowd. I'm just curious how it happened.

And sporks ARE hilarious.

The Lane Bryant thing was in IL. It's the park to me than the people. If you want to get on Two-Face, Avalance, Tower of Doom, or the Flying Dutchman, there are no guarantees that none of them will be open in the middle of JUNE.

Schools are in session in the middle of June. The school systems in this area build 5 "weather" days into the calendar to alot for weather related emergencies. It isn't the parks fault Washingtonians can't drive in the snow. June in Washington, D.C. is like a big vacuum when it comes to running a business. All of the minimum wage employees are attending prom, graduating or heading to Ocean City for Senior Week. Go at the end of June and you have a better shot at riding those rides.

I was at SFA last Thurs. Closed rides - Batwing, Two-Face, Great Chase, several flats. The SLC went down , but came back up before closing (not that I wanted to ride it, but many people might). Supes was running one train with a bad line FULL of line-jumpers. Wild One was running one train but at least had almost no wait. The number of employees at entrances telling everyone to put their stuff in lockers was about double the number of people actually running the rides....gotta love that park...

Slightly OT, but the line-jumping policy really DOES need to be enforced more. It's almost ignored, sometimes.

^I don't think that's OT at all. I think the *atmosphere* at that park is conducive to violence...and the line-jumping is a big part of the park's....ambience.

Gator, you didn't follow my advice. I said the end of June not June 12th. I also heard through the rumor mill, they bused a bunch of delinquents in just for you, gator and paid extra employees overtime to stand at the gate and collect the money for the lockers.

^LOL, when the State tells me they'll pay me to fly *outside* of Florida during coaster season, I don't argue...

Even though I had such a short visit, I had a great time...OTOH, maybe I had a great time because it was such a short visit? The only ride I missed not riding was Two-Face. Batwing really does very little for me...and the operations would have bothered me more if I were with someone else (someone on their first visit, without prior knowledge of the place, would have been GREATLY disappointed I'm sure).

I went to the park on Mon. 6/16, it was dead. Superman never opened that I saw before we left with the thunderstorms at 3:30. Many flats don't open until noon and my brother got to the platform for Batwing but walked off when two people cut in front of him and someone else said he wasn't in the right line. According to him there was NO organization in the station.

Of course, he's a moron and a hothead and to walk BACK down the stairs while being on the platform is just stupid.
