Six Flags America announces Tony Hawk's Halfpipe slide

A slide that looked like a wooden halfpipe would be sweet.

Well they could've at least added something new to the dry side of the park to give those of us w ho don't go in the waterpark something new to look forward to.I guess I'll be going to KD only once this coming season because at least they're adding something that I'll want to actually go & ride.

This "ride" addition just doesn't warrant a $50.00 + season pass along with lousy food,locker nazis on just about every ride & that hated flashpass nonsense for yet another season.....call me back SFA when you actually build something in the themepark side that I'd shell out my hardearned $50.00 to go ride,then maybe I'll buy a season pass again but not before then.

Sorry, I had to pull this quote out of context, even though it's right above. BFSFA has waited how many years for a traditional B&M to come to town, and this is his response? It's almost as Dominator isn't worthy of his time. Wake up! This isn't some little floorless like Hydra the Revenge, or the formerly titled Batman Dark Knight at SFNE. This is a large-sized floorless that kicks a lot of butt. Surely, it's worth two visits?

Anyway, someone on here leaked (get it leaked? I kill myself!) the information to me about the new slide last night even though the webpage had already been updated. I'm really excited. Four stories and 23mph? Not too shabby. I just wonder where they are going to put it. They're not out of room by a long-shot in HH, it's just that I'm curious physically where it's going.

Wow, I actually would've lost the bet...I was gonna say within 2 hours. I thought if I had said within 3, it'd look like I was giving myself too much of a cushion.

The press release mentions a Frictionless surface... it strikes me that Six Flags are onto a major winner with that one in certain markets...

I understand they are going to remove the "fish" game between Hurricane Hotdogs and the old rock climbing wall and build it in that area. It seems small enough to fit in that area nicely, I can't wait to see the artwork and theming on how it will all fit together.

I know this has been discussed to death, but I'm not crazy about the name. I have no problem with clones, they are cheaper to produce and easier to market, but naming two very different attractions with one very similar name is confusing. SF has done this with Batman, Superman, Kong, and many others.

For example, if I go on Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom, I expect it to be the same at Disneyland. Same thing can be said for basically every other classic Disney attraction I can think of.

^Tell that to Cedar Fair and their multiple uses of Dominator for multiple types of rides, or Thunderhawk etc. With the closest Tony Hawk coaster being located at SFSTL, which is a good eight-hundred miles plus from SFA, I really don't see it as being an issue.

Most enthusiasts don't go into waterparks anyway (this one does), so where's the problem?

The last water slide half pipe I rode hurt my butt and pulled my shorts down in the valley and it didnt feel to good, but that was at Nasheville Shores but it was fun especially when a very large man went down the slide and his raft went over the side and he slide out into the half pipe and the first aid guys who worked the ride had to go help him.

Also the name is pretty good and I am guessing Tony Hawk is getting richer but whats next, Tony Hawks Scrambler "Relive Tony Hawk's 900" I bet if Elitch Gardens was still in the chain their Half Pipe Coaster would be renamed after Tony Hawk. At least its a new ride.

SFEG had a waterslide that I believe is the same as this one....called "The Edge". So theoretically they could have two Tony Hawk rides....kinda like he's the new Batman or something...

I can only afford to make the trip to KD once per year,if I could convince my friends to get season passes for KD then I'd be able to visit more often.....As for SFA I see them as going the way of GL,or SFAW if they keep this up by alienating the segment of their market that doesn't even patronize the water park by neglecting to add at least something (it doesn't necessarily have to be a big expensive coaster,even a new flat would suffice right about now) new to the ride side of the park,which they havn't done in five years now.

Please understand that I'm not trying to be mean by saying this...But but but

If you can only afford to visit a park farther away only once a summer, maybe you're exactly the demographic they can afford to overlook. Seriously.

I'll put it this way: The park 3.5 hours from me built the wavepool with the world's tallest waves. They got three visits, admission for three each trip and an overnight stay outta me. I dropped almost as much money on that overnight stay alone (was it $225?) as I did buying season passes at the local park for the whole family. Will I do it again? Hell YES. See if I don't!

So if the $2 million slide attracts the folks who can afford to drag in 2.1 kids for multiple summer visits and buy them overpriced slushies and burgers while they're at it? Then they're making the decision that's best for the park. Why would they spend six times as much?

I hate to take the attention away from Batwing Fan, BUT, does this mean SFKK is now the only park in the chain not adding ANYTHING?

SFKK and LaRonde both installed "star attractions" last year....

....just noting....

SFA will be sold in the next 2 years... This park is the bottom of the barrel and they never sink any money into this dump. Yes I go once a year for about 8 hours, so I can get the 50 buck season pass. Wild One is worth the one visit per.. They can never even get enough people to show for a Coaster event... these are the people who Love Amusement parks!

Sorry Batwing.. I would Buy one of my friends a KD season pass..

Carowinds has a better chance of getting a Rollercoaster
