Muskegon and Michigan's Adventure use Tim Allen to lure Detroiters

Couldn't have imagined a comedian who is known for his Tarzan-like masculine behavior whose character hosts a tool talk show would go on to do soft and soothing, poetic voiceovers... UUH?!!

Obviously you haven't seen any of the Santa Clause or other "family" movies he's done. Tim Allen is a huge "Michigan" fan, promoting the state in many ways (specifically, references to Michigan in his movies and other shows.) His voice will be recognizable.

Regardless, I've said for years they really need to do more advertising for the area in and around Muskegon. BTW, the latest issue of AARP has a huge back cover ad for Michigan's Adventure, which really surprised the heck out of me. I've seen MiA ads in AAA material we've received and in the local papers.

Considering the crapper the Michigan economy is in, people are cutting costs on vacations and staying much closer to home. Obviously the Detroit area is closer to Cedar Point, but if a family wants to cut costs, it will become obvious there are a lot of lower cost options an additional hour away.

I've gotta tell you, the beaches in Muskegon impress me to no end. The water quality is impressive, the sand is fine, the boating culture is a little less pretentious... it's just a neat place if you like the waterfront but can't get to the ocean.

We're hearing a lot of these commercials on Chicago radio too....

I think I should apologize for saying Michigan has crap to do a few months back. I think the problem was that I HATE WINTER. The cold was really getting to me.

It is now 73 degrees and sunny and I've lightened up.

I agree about the beaches. Although the beaches are nice in both areas, the Holland and Grand Haven areas in general are a lot nicer than Muskegon.

I sort of wonder if MIA could do a better job targeting the businesses/schools in Grand Rapids for catered outings, etc. The picnic pavilions that are only a few years old seem to barely get used. I know my company is doing an event in August at the West Michigan Whitecaps game. They are renting the deck in the outfield and buying the food/tickets for up to like 300 people (I think last year, like 180 showed up). Michigan's economy sucks, but Grand Rapids is doing pretty well, especially in the area of healthcare, and there have to be some businesses that would be interested in doing an outing. Although MIA doesn't have beer. And the Whitecaps game will have plenty of that. Maybe I should keep my mouth shut.

I saw several of the commercials last night on TV. They are very classy and well done. His voice works in them. They are very nice commericals.

MiAdv has been doing a ton of advertising, they really are getting the word out about the park and the rides.
