Several of the rides and attractions from the Myrtle Beach Pavilion amusement park will have a new inland home. Burroughs & Chapin said it is moving the historic carousel and German organ, nine rides like the Caterpillar and Pirate Ship and some of the old park's midway games from their old oceanfront location to Broadway at the Beach, a shopping and entertainment area a couple of miles from the beach. They will be placed at the Pavilion Nostalgia Park, a year-round attraction scheduled to open this summer, the company said.

I think it's great that they're at least saving some of the rides and putting them all in one place. I always loved the Caterpillar as a kid, and the working canopy is a little bit freaky! All though I don't know if they had room, I think putting the Arrow mouse in there would've made things complete.

To me, Pavillion Nostalgia Park comes off like the cookie-cutter developments with names like the Preserve at [fill in the blank]. I'm like, how exactly is it a preserve if you took down all the trees to put in the McMansions?

According to the Sally Corp. website, the Treasure Hunt (Den of Lost Theives) dark ride will also be relocated to Broadway at the Beach. If this is true I've got to say it's a bit disappointing to see that this less original ride was saved rather than the Haunted Hotel.
