"World reacts"? Seems like somebody is over reacting to me. I'm sure the vast majority of the world doesn't care.

^point made.
My nextdoor neighbor was like: What's a Cedar Fair? a new grocery store?

From the Enquirer:

"Between Cedar Point and Kings Island, they have approximately 45 major roller coasters," Speigel said.

Hmm...Cedar Point has 16 roller coasters...last time I checked, Kings Island didn't have 29.

"Between Cedar Point and Kings Island, they have approximately 45 major roller coasters," Speigel said.

Even if Geauga Lake is factored in, it only brings the grand total to 39.

And. About whether or not the whole 'world' is reacting. Indeed..... only a small, secluded, and I hasten to say, dorky 'world' is reacting to the news.

Now you're going to pick at headlines? Time to diversify your hobbies.

I spent an hour yesterday watching the 4 pm newscast on NBC channel 4 waiting for a report that they specifically said would air in regards to the CF aqqusition & they never broadcast it! Instead we got treated to a local politician running his mouth about some scandal he was involved in for a good 20 minutes or so which probably explains why the report never aired.

Why do so many of these articles site people assuming that CF is going to plop down huge coasters willy nilly like the old Six Flags?
May 23, 2006, 11:52A

^Agreed. I hope they don't. But it would be nice to have a Hyper at GL.

The investors I heard on the 11:00 conference call weren't "dorky". The Sun-Sentinel, here in Florida, had a pretty lenghthy article about the sale (more from the CBS point of view...but still).

I'd say the world is reacting to the news. Or, at the very least, the amusement business and Wall Street are reacting.

Sarchasm on:

"I really hope CF doesn't start plopping down coasters everywhere like Six Flags did. But I'll take a floorless and a hyper at MY homepark".

Sarchasm off.

So now Six Flags and Cedar Fair are the last two regional amusement park companies left? I dont know, I definately felt that the Paramount parks had an atmosphere that was so unique from the other two chains. I am really hoping that doesnt change too much, as I have always felt that PKI was the best park in Ohio, by a long shot. Hopefully there wont be that many changes to the park, just wishful thinking I suppose.

There is still HFEC which owns Silver Dollar City, Celebration City, and a few others. They also co-own Dollywood. They also run Dolly's Dixie Stampede shows all over the country whereever they happen to be. They also run Stone Mountain in Georgia.

There is also Kennywood Entertainment which runs or owns Kennywood, Lake Compounce, and Idlewild.

There are some other smaller chains I am sure that I am missing.

It was a long weekend in Canada and the news broke when most Canadians were at their local theme parks or drinking beer in their back yards. "World Reacts" seems appropriate.

Thanks for the good news Jeff, you just made my week!

No one can see into the future, man.

Yeah. As opposed to you making the title misleading just to make it appear as if actually many people care about the acquisition. His knock was good. Yours was a cheap shot out of being called out on.

We all know the chain of parks were acquired. Why you decided to collect some regional paper articles as a headline story is beyond me.

Looks like Cedar Fair favors Snoopy over Nickelodeon. because in some of the articles it says they are hoping to integrate Snoopy into some of the newly aquired parks. I thought it would be the opposite.
