Mall of America lets Peanuts license lapse

I think that's pretty nuts. That place is SO heavily themed. The little kids I know who go there and love it really associate it with Snoopy and the gang. It's not just attended by mall goers either, I know a family who added a 2 day stay at the mall just for the park (for their kids).

My favorite part was Charlie Brown tangled upside down in the kite strings on the Kite Eating Tree.

The mall should have thought about that before terminating it's relationship with Cedar Fair.

I suspect it will be popular with or without Peanuts but I wonder if they explored just what an impact Charlie and the gang have on people before they pulled the trigger.

SF: Worlds of Adventure, now Geauga Lake once again, was heavily themed, and Cedar Fair pulled, pried, and painted over every mention of Looney Tunes and WB.

It looked like the park, especially the kids areas, was vandalized.

They have yet to put in many Snoopy and Peanuts items to replace all the holes and such, but if they would add those elements, it would look much nicer.

I think the Mall of America will just retheme the stuff...it can be done, and Zamperla is an expert at that kind of work.

I am willing to bet they will come back with something really great. Maybe nickelodeon. I don't know, what kid really knows who the Peanuts are?

While the Peanuts may not be the best choice to woo today's kids they do still run the comic strip and have books full of comics.

And don't forget the trifecta of holiday specials. (Halloween, Thanksgiving, X-mas) That alone, I imagine, still reaches far and wide among the kids.

Yes, there are better replacements, but there are worse ones too.

In comparison, the only reason my kids know the Looney Tunes in any capacity is because I got the DVD's. It's impossible to find Looney Tunes cartoons on TV or just about anywhere anymore. (Which is really a shame - and an entirely different rant)

Gonch: Boomerang (a Cartnoon Network channel carried mostly on digital cable/satellite) apears to have exclusive US broadcast rights to most of the WB and HB catalog. I've searched, and haven't found these shows anywhere else. (Josie and the Pussycats, anyone?)

I didn't know Boomerang actually showed the Looney Tunes. I thought they were sitting on them.

Comcast doesn't give us Boomerang, so may I ask someone who does get it - are these shown unedited or have they removed all of the "un-PC" bits as they did when Cartoon Network (and before that, TBS) had them?

Well, there are Bugs&Daffy episodes, which I suppose is not strictly LT. I confess to not watching them that closely, so I couldn't tell you how (un-)PC they are.

How about a Simpson's themed park? Lot's of possible names, including:

Kamp Krusty
Mount Splashmore
Blockoland
Duff Gardens
Itchy & Scratchy Land
Praiseland

and Timberline Twister will be renamed the Tooth Chipper!

Even though I'm only 16, Loony Toons, Charlie Brown, and Mickey Mouse cartoons were always my favorite. The kids now have shows that just don't seems to be classics anymore. It was great to watch cartoons with my parents and know they saw the same characters when they were younger. The past 7 years really changed the way cartoons are.

Camp Snoopy was big here since Schultz is one of our local "heros". The other is Prince but I hope they don't theme it to him, lol. The unoffical word going around that I have heard is that Schultz's heirs demanded more money, the mall offerered more but not all that was requested, and they could not reach agreement.
