From yesterday's press release:
La Ronde announced today that children and adults alike are invited to come and enjoy a brand-new and exciting family section, the Pays de Ribambelle, at the official opening on May 14, 2005.
Located next to the main entrance, the Pays de Ribambelle will feature six
unique new family rides, four existing rides that have been revised and modified to better reflect the new decor, a magnificent interactive water
fountain for cooling down on those hot summer days and a new outdoor stage
where La Ronde's new mascot, the easy-going and friendly Ribambelle, along with his band, will entertain the crowd this summer. La Ronde's new and
welcoming family atmosphere will also offer a new rest area, a souvenir shop
and a restaurant designed specially for children.

New Mascot? Is this a trend for Six Flags? Are they moving away from Looney Tunes?
La Ronde never got into the Looney Tunes like most Six Flags parks. It may be that SF didn't purchase branding rights in Canada. They don't have a Batman suspended coaster, they have a Vampire suspended coaster. (The vampire coaster has a very familiar bat-shaped insignia, just slightly different than the Batman logo.)
As for the old La Ronde mascots, I can't even remember what they were. Obviously, they were not getting much attention. The tree dude sounds cool.
I really like the fact that we did not go a Looney Tunes land. It does looks fun, but Pays de Ribambelle is unique and the world!
2005 is looking great for kids @ La Ronde!
