Fake park employees allegedly steal cash from Cedar Point games

Good thing the guy that wrote that article does not post here. He is a horrible reporter... according to court records. Every sentence ending with "according to court records"

That doesn't make him a horrible reporter, that's him doing his job. If he leaves that part out and it turns out not to be true he and the paper get sued for libel. Don't criticize that which you do not understand.

That's pretty sad. I mean, I can't deny the people were smart for thinking of that, but they were dumb enough to think they would actually get away with it.

Also, Trick Track - as Jeff already clarified, there's nothing wrong with the article at all. Remember the first rule of anything is to cover your own ass.

I too thought it was annoying to have the majority of sentences end with "according to court records." It would have sufficed to write a simple sentence stated the obvious one time rather than repeat again and again. Maybe you meant to say this guy was a terrible writer Trick, not a terrible reporter.

I didn't even notice that everything ended with "according to court records." I guess you get used to it when you do that.

I can't believe the first employee actually let someone he did not know and with no name tag go to the games office. It might have been one of the young workers at the park who got scared thinking he was in trouble.

Jeffrey R. Smith, one usage of "according to court records" would NOT have sufficed for the entire article. If the paper wants to avoid a libel suit, that needs to be in every paragraph at least.

However, the writer should have mixed it up a bit, such as starting a paragraph with "Court records said..." or putting the phrase within the paragraph somewhere.

I suspect the writer turned in the story with no attribution at all, and a hurried editor quickly added those phrases.

If they would have left the park immediately they would have got away with it. That is a horrible reporting job.
