Court overturns $2.5 million award in Six Flags America discrimination suit

The minimum height restriction is in fact 46 inches to ride TSC as listed in the 2004 park map/guide.

It also states the following on the ride legend list:"height/weight restrictions are set by the state of Maryland as well as the ride manufacturer & are strictly enforced.Please note that height/weight restrictions are subject to change without notice by the state of Maryland or the ride manufacturer.Children must be of walking age to board any Six Flags America ride."

It sounds to me like the park is trying to let guests know before boarding any ride/attraction that they alone aren't the ones responsible for setting the height/weight restrictions & it is in fact the state & or manufacturer's who have determined what the safe minimum height for the rides will be so if parents just take the time to actually read the information contained in the guide they'd know before even attempting to board a ride that their child isn't tall enough for which will save them & the staff the trouble of having to argue with them over the height restrictions.

I don't think that $2.5 mil is something that someone deserves for being denied on a ride, unless if something physical happened. When I go to a park chances are I see people get turned around because of height who can't ride, who are of different races, most of the time they would plead their way or go on their way somewhere, but don't play the race card if your denied of riding because of regulations. Im sure they would've save their time and money if they just went to that little bar before the line and read the rules and regulations. But I guess this is America people look for different ways to make money even if its lying, stealing, or cheating. Like CP said with the big people suing Mcdonalds, the funiest thing in the world. Im black and I don't think this lawsuit was worth any kind of pursuit.

That's just the thing....most of the folks at SFA don't even bother reading the signs posted at the ride entrances,let alone using the height measurement posts that are usually right in front of them.

What SFA should do is have employees standing at the queue entrance with the good old measuring pole(the one CF uses & not the yardstick with the horizontal bar) to check riders height before they enter the line which would save guests the time & embarassment of waiting in line only to be turned away because they don't fit the height restrictions for a ride.

SFA doesn't use the measuring pole, but they do usually have a sign with a height line marked at the entrances to the ride. (They may have them at all rides, I just haven't done any inventory to be sure.)

There does seem to currently be a slight confusion on TSC's minimum height. The web site says 42" while the map says 46".

Yeah I noticed the new height measuring posts at the queue entrance to most rides & it's a much better design than the ones used previously.

SFA does still use the yellow measuring yardsticks in the station of most rides/coasters where required though,these are the ones carried by the platform attendants in case you forgot.

A segregated prom? Oh my God. I read that article and it literally made me physically sick, along with the KKK/Dollywood thing.

As far as that lawsuit, I always said that things went downhill after that lady spilled McDonald's coffee on her crotch so many years ago. Now everyone wants to sue everybody for anything.

Coasterfantom2, I wondered about that as well......people wanting to sue CP now for NOT being able to ride MForce. I am sure it will come up sooner or later. It's sad.
