Camp Snoopy announces Timberland Twister

Well, it certainly is nice to see that Camp Snoopy is finally adding a new ride!

I've only been to the Mall of America once but I found the way they have everything packed into Camp Snoopy is pretty amazing. For such a small location there is a pretty decent collection of rides, and it's nice to see them adding another coaster.

It's coming Aug 18th, and your 2004 will never be the same!

I don't think this will be the last Cedar Fair property to announce a spinning coaster for 2004. (I know, they manage Camp Snoopy but you know what I mean.)

I wonder if this is the same model or a similar one as "Spider" at Lagoon... If so, it'll be an awesome addition, and definitely worth the stop next time I pass Mall of America.

Badnitrus - According to Amusement Today, this one is from Gerstlauer. The one at Lagoon is by Maurer Söhne.

Gerstlauer? Isn't that a first in the US?

Either way, it's good news. It will be interesting to see how they intend on incorporating it's layout with other attractions, space is a bit of premium, but it guarantees it will interesting, to say the least.

chris - Thanks for the info, I didn't check out Amusement Today. Sucks that they aren't getting one like Spider though!

MarimbaGuy87 - Joe (Legendary) and I just went on a trip throughout the Northwest, and we both were ecstatic over Spider and loved it... I used to love almost every mouse and spinning coaster out there, but now they all seem so boring compared to Spider. It was definitely one of the best steel coasters of the trip and I only wish it were closer .

Marimba Guy-Spider is an awesome coaster. It is not the biggest, or fastest, but it is a ton of fun. The back to back spinning effect is much better than the other kind IMO, and that combined with the banked curves and unique elements creates a great ride. I urge anyone in the Salt Lake area to stop by Lagoon and give this ride a try.

The Amusement Today article says 4 riders will be facing each other and the spinning will be determined by weight distribution and gravity. Sounds more like a virgina reel to me.

is there maybe a picture that I could see of what this ride looks like???? because it first sounded like it would be anouther Steel Venom, but then when reading the info everyone has put down, i have no clue in mind in how this coaster is going to look like!¡!

Lagoon's my homepark and I'm surprised that Spider's getting such good word-of-mouth! Spider's a great ride, especially when you start out going backwards. It has really quick transitions and some sharp banking, add the spinning (which gets pretty intense when you have "larger" people in your car) and it's just a FUN ride.

I'm glad some of you have gotten to ride it.

Hell yes Alligator Boots, like Keith said, Spider was probably the best steel coaster on the trip (save for ones I have been on already like Mamba, Batman, and Mr. Freeze). It was SO unique and I much prefer this style of seating (back to back) as opposed to the Reverchon style four-across. The spinning was awesome and it was one of the most out of control coasters ever!

I really can't wait to see the layout of Mall of Americas new coaster...

I wish that a ride like Spider was built out here on the East Coast... I have yet to hear a negative comment made about the ride.

As an Area Supervisor in Rides, I'm happy to see so many good comments about Spider. Although Spider isn't very tall or fast, it packs quite a punch and is a lot of fun. If you haven't been on an M&S SC-2000, you need to ride one! It's also nice to see my home park finally get noticed and hear great feed back about it.
