You've seen the seats on Intamin hypers and giant flumes, now you'll see them on wood coasters as well. The giant Intamin-built Colossos at Germany's Heide-Park sports new wood trains.

Check the photos from this German site.

Question: Why can't designers make a wooden train that looks exactly like a steel train?
April 4, 2001, 8:35A

I may be seeing it wrong but it looks like there is a synthetic tire of some kind on the road and quide wheel. Anyone know for sure?

We must get one of these coasters in the states, now! The first drop looks just as steep as some of Intamin's other recent coasters.

The rails are made all of the of steel, doesnt made of wood, so only the structure is wood, all the rest is a Steel Coaster!!

Inatim Fan, we already have a hyper woody in the states. Its called Son of Beast, plus I think a lot of people in the states would complain about the OTSR.

Juan Jose Rdz,
That is how most track for wooden coasters is built. Several layers of wood topped with a steel plate that is lubed up.

I deffinatly see Rubber on thoses wheels.......I also think that that the rails look like steel with steel plates bolted on top
April 4, 2001, 11:52A

I think those trains look ugly I guess they're using polyurithane(sp?) wheels instead of metal greased wheels, its still considered a woodie

They look like folding chairs from a Friday night poker game at the local ELKS Lodge stuffed into a Buster Brown shoe box. They finally found something worse than the trains on SFMM's Colossus. Roll on PTC.
