There's a decent chance there'll be a another game, but unless Atari gets their act together, I'm not looking forward to it.

I highly doubt it. RCT3 was a dive compared to it's predecessors.

In my opinion, I think the only way a new game would be a success is if chris himself does the game.

Atari has ruined a great game.

I still play one and two and it's still fun! Never did catch onto three though, the game lost it's charm in that version for me.

I'm still waiting for "Theme Park Mentality Tycoon" to come out.

Some of the scenarios could be along the lines of the ones found in RCT.

Try to get 4,500 fanboys to bash an opposing park by the end of year 4.

Take as many rides out of comission, while charging(You set the price.) for the brand new Q=Bot system you just installed in your park. All the while keeping a park rating of 700.

The possiblities are endless.

RollerCoaster Tycoon is still Chris Sawyer's brand, licensed to Atari.

Sawyer was supposed to be a consulting producer on RCT3, but clearly his input was ignored. We've talked about this on the podcast, but if they would've just used the rules from the first two games and applied it to the 3D world, the third game wouldn't have sucked so much (performance issues aside). I remember when Atari sent me the beta, I was blown away by how bad it was, and I wasn't afraid to tell them that.

I think that if someone built a solid engine around his rule system, the franchise could be saved. I don't know how motivated Sawyer would be, because at this point he should be quite rich, at least, as soon as Atari pays up.

There have been 2 loose sequals to RCT, which has evolved into more of a casual-gamer audience instead of the harder core niche for RCT (even though it still had casual appeal).

"Thrillville" & "Thrillville: Off The Rails" are both using the same RCT3 engine from what I gather, as they're both developed by Frontier... there's a lot of similarities to RCT-3, just taking a more hands-off approach.

I hope Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 does come along, but not until it undergoes a major facelift in terms of updated graphic engine, and of course... gameplay that'll rival RCT-2 (except with more missions).

I must admit that I would love to see a RCT4 come out as RCT3 was a huge dissapointment with only one exception. I love the fact that you can actually ride the rides that you create. Also, the coaster trains appear to react exactly how a real coaster train of that type would in real life.

On the flip side, I did like the looks of the coasters on RCT1 and 2 much better. They appeared to be much more true to life to me.

I would love to see a RCT4 with a mixture of RCT2 with the ability to ride like in RCT3

To be completely honest, the on-ride view does nothing to me. RCT's piece-based construction just does not lend itself to constructing tracks that are realistic enough to be fun to ride.

That said, from a spectator's perspective, they're still awesome. My dream RCT4 would be a 2D game like RCT 1 & 2 with near-photorealistic graphics and the same attention to detail and gameplay that made RCT 1 & 2 such huge successes.

Besides being able to ride the rides, I would like an easy way to landscape "realistically" in RCT4, like you can on RCT3. It was too much work to make realistic hills and valleys with RCT & RCT2... *** Edited 2/28/2008 2:53:13 AM UTC by DantheCoasterman***

I still play RCT2 every now and then.

Never got into 3 though...in fact I uninstalled it from my computer after a few months of occasional play. It reminded me of those SimCoaster games too much.

If another sequel did come along, I wouldn't mind if they actually went back to 2D graphics and a more realistic approach. I agree with the poster above that said "To be completely honest, the on-ride view does nothing to me".

I still play RCT2 as well, it's such a great game. I'd be happy if they went back to the format of the 2nd game and just added more rides and features: "Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.5"

ok, i have to ask...i just got my first mac...and i was wondering if RTC 1 or 2 are available anywhere for mac....cuz i cant find it anywhere...i've never tried rct 3 but i might have to since it is the only thing i can find so far...
