Price Raise?

Has the price always been $30? I could have swore last week it was $25.

It was originally $20 when the first version came out... but yes, they did just raise the price.

Ha! NL never sucked me in. I messed with it for a while, then realized it wasn't for me. I like the limitless approach, but never had the patience to really learn it.

I'm not connected with No Limits in any way, but I am a shareware developer located in Europe with prices in Dollars, and I can say that, relative to the Euro at least, US $30 this year is worth about what US $20 was two years ago.

Good point, Richard. The Dollar has dropped to all hell while the Euro has been doing pretty well.

It would be a bit off to ask somebody to continue to accept $20 for a piece of software when the value of the software has gone up and the value of the dollar has gone down.

Yeah, its not like 3 years later people are still playing RCT2 or anything...

I love No Limits. I'm not good at it, but still enjoy it. And it isn't something that is big in the market. Since it is an online exclusive, you'll always get people who stumble upon it and go "wow".

Why wouldn't they still be playing after 3 years? Free expansions, a great game over all, the right price? Everything RCT3 wasn't.(not that the games are remotely alike, just sayin).

I'm glad I got it when it was $25. I didn't even notice the increase, but it makes sense with the stability of the Euro.

I love NoLimits. It takes some time getting used to, but there are tons of tools out there that can improve coasters to near professional quality.

NoLimits is easily the best coaster simulator out there.

Hyper Rails? It may have an easier design process and a cool-looking simulator, but they don't have any support at all. They added a patch with a bug fix early on, but it's not available on their site anymore. I don't believe they answer e-mails, either.

Scream Machines? They're like Six Flags: quantity over quality. What takes NoLimits four months to create an absolutely realistic new design takes Scream Machines three weeks to pump out a rarely-used design (Schwarzkopf Speed Racer, anyone?). They're not realistic. For example: If you look at the woodies, they don't have upstops.

Nothing stands anywhere near NoLimits's quality and realism. I love it, and I'll always support it.

It's not professional and I acknowledge that. However, it's a big step up for me from the pre-made's of RCT. I actually had to deal with blocks which took me a night figure out how to use.

Gravimetricstudios.com and coastercandy.com have an auto-heartliner; an auto-smoother; an object creator; and a tool to calculate curves radii and track lengths to create track segments to exact precision for launch speeds or turn lengths according to speed.

There are also two element creators: The Prefab Purgatorium (Google it, I don't have the address) and the Elemental (at Gravimetric Studios).

Make sure to carefully read the "readme" files for the auto heartline generator and smoother. Also, both of them require the track to be fairly well designed in the first place. Otherwise it can end up making you track worse.

As far as the Purgatorium, I think you can find that at Coastercandy also. It's an amazing tool but requires some pretty heavy math knowledge. The NL Elementary on the other hand is very easy and user friendly. It comes with some premade "wizards" that allow you to punch some variables into a formula to create loops, turns, helices, zero g rolls. You can also create your own if you have the math skills. I suggest downloading xBUSTERx's deluxe loop wizard from coaster candy NL element section. It allows loops with different entry/exit height and inclined loops. You usually have to end up fiddling with the banking yourself as it is very complicated to calculate the banking of vertical loops.
